Historic Hotel Questionnaire
Year erected: 1600
Would you describe your property as (or has it ever been in the past) a:
Palace
Is there anything that you would like to highlight, add or clarify?
The Palace in Krotoszyce is an estate from XVIIth century with farm buildings and historic park (6ha).

The palace is located in the Kaczawa Valley. A convenient location of the palace is our asset - a few kilometers from Legnica and A4 highway, near the expressway S3. In less than an hour you will safely and comfortably reach Wrocław. It is also close to the capitals of our neighbors - Prague and Berlin. We suggest visiting not well known but very calm and charming Kaczawa Foothills and Mountains.

The palace in Krotoszyce was built in 1600, probably by Hans Heinrich Sebladus, and served primarily as a defensive castle with a moat. After Sebaldus’ death subsequent owners repaired and altered the building until 1686, when Florian Gottlob von Thielau gave it the shape of neo-baroque palace. A date in heraldic cartouche above the entrance is the evidence of it. Despite the reconstruction in the mid-nineteenth century and the renovation in 1964, the palace hasn’t lost its shape.

Until 1949 the building was under Soviet administration. When they left, it passed into the hands of the Państwowe Gospodarstwo Rolne (State Agricultural Farm), and after its collapse it was taken over by the Agencja Własności Rolnych (Agricultural Property Agency), that was looking for an investor who would save the monument from falling into disrepair. The current investor, Przedsiębiorstwo Transportowo - Budowlane Sp. z o.o. (Transport and Construction Company LLC) from Złotoryja, carries out renovations of the palace, trying to restore its original appearance.

The hotel itself is situated in the original manor buildings of the Palace Krotoszyce, Parkowa St. 3. It’s a complex of banquet and conference facilities which offers 133 beds in nice and tastefully decorated rooms with a 3-star hotel standard. We offer 1, 2 and 3-person rooms.

Historic Aparthotel Questionnaire
Year erected: 1914
What is the history of the property?
Hornigold invites you to the centre of Katowice, a vibrant city in the south of Poland with a rich culture. The apartment building offers comfortable and luxurious accommodation, a perfect place for both short and longer stays.
What was the era and/or the architectural style in which the property was built?
Located in a historic modernist townhouse from 1914, designed by Robert Zimmermann. The architecture of Katowice is mainly a product of industrial development that characterized the last 160 years. Apart from Łódź and Gdynia, Katowice belongs to the small group of large Polish cities, the centers of which do not originate from the medieval founding city. Hornigold Apartments "In Zielona Kamienica" were born out of dreams. We wanted to create a space that would not only be a service building or hotel, as there are many in Katowice, but a brand that is authentic, recognized and liked. In our projects, we are always inspired by the history of the region, and we use the knowledge about it in our own, original way. The tenement house from 1914, in which we are located, apparently resembles others, stretching along Kopernika Street. On the one hand, it is true, because many of the buildings were erected thanks to designs by Robert Zimmermann (formerly Cieślik), who, while purchasing plots of land in the northern part of Kościuszko Street, was successively covering both streets. After all, there used to be dirt roads here, and now we have a bustling downtown. On the other hand, it is enough to enter our courtyard to feel the unique atmosphere of the place right from the doorstep. Are you ready to get to know the world of the Green Tenement House?
Is the property surrounded by other historic buildings?
"GREEN AND PEACEFULLY"

Someone who has not had the opportunity to stay in our interiors yet may not know where the idea for the name came from? Why "In Zielona Kamienica"? We said that in our projects we are inspired by history, but we did not mention also nature. The façade of the tenement house is overgrown with ivy, which looks amazing every season, the reception is always decorated with fresh flowers and in the corridors, in the breakfast room or in the apartments you will find a lot of beautiful potted plants. We must also mention that we love books and poetry, so in the names of the rooms you will find many references to the works of Agnieszka Osiecka, Andrzej Dąbrowski and Maria Koterbska.

Others historical buildings surrounded:

At ul. Nicholas Copernicus, there are the following historical buildings:St. Kazimierz Królewicz church, entered in the register of monuments (registration number: 1378/88 of November 2, 1988; A / 604/2020 of February 11, 2020 [9]), erected in the years 1930−1933, in the style of functionalism according to the design of Leon Dietz d ' Army and J. Zawadzki [10]; the church is plastered, three-nave, basilica, with galleries (porches over the aisles) open to the nave; has one tower located in the corner. Designers composed the church and presbytery in one block, and built the entire complex into the corner between two streets (Kopernika and M. Curie-Skłodowskiej); the interior has retained its original functionalistic and art deco furnishings; its authors are (apart from architects): Zofia Trzcińska-Kamieńska - Way of the Cross and the sculpture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus; Henryk Kunzek - Our Lady of Immaculata; Leon Kowalski - a painting of Our Lady, Queen of Poland; Marian Szpindler - Christ in the main altar, Karol Muszkiet - sculpture of St. Anthony of Padua;

the building was consecrated on June 25, 19 Barbara and Stanisław Ptaków Museum" - permanent exhibition of the Theater and Film Department of the Museum of the History of Katowice. It is located in the former apartment of Barbara Ptak, set designer and costume designer, and her husband, the actor and singer, Stanisław Ptak. The apartment has been preserved in its original form - a two-level apartment with an internal staircase at 11 Mikołaja Kopernika Street. The exhibition shows the creative path of Stanisław Ptak. These are photographs from his various stage incarnations, costumes from the production of "Man from La Mancha", posters, documentation of performances. The whole is complemented by numerous photos, souvenirs and awards and distinctions received.

Has restoration work taken place?
2020
Are there any important guests or previous owners worth mentioning?
A whole galaxy of contemporary actors, singers and performers of sung poetry, conductors, musicians, Polish celebrities, athletes see entries in our guest book.
Are there any significant events that took place at the property in the past?
The street starts at the intersection with ul. Tadeusz Kościuszko (Karol Miarka Square). Then it crosses the streets: Styczyńskiego, Michał Drzymała, Maria Skłodowskiej-Curie, runs next to Andrzeja Square, the Detention Center. It ends its course at the intersection with Mikołowska Street.

During the German Reich (until 1922) the street was called Scharnhorststraße, to commemorate Gerard Joanna Dawid Scharnhorst - chairman of the Military Reorganization Commission [5]. This was also the name used during the German occupation of Poland in 1939–1945.

On May 24, 2001, the Monument to the Victims of Katyn was unveiled at the intersection of Mikołaja Kopernika and Maria Skłodowskiej-Curie Streets. A plaque was placed on the prison wall (corner of Andrzeja Square and Mikołaja Kopernika Street), commemorating the soldiers of the Silesian District of the Home Army murdered in the Katowice prison during World War II and during the Stalinist period.

Has the property received any certifications for its historical status?
It is a historic property from 1914, the value of cultural heritage
