Former Castle HotelThe first written records of the Gniew Castle date as far back as the 13th century. Initially, it belonged to the Teutonic Order, and was used as their political and economic centre due to its strategic location that allowed the Order to oversee the entire town. In the 15th century it came to the hands of the Kingdom of Poland and it was used as the seat of the local governor. Having undergone many wars and changes of hands, the castle has been restored many times since, until it reached its current state and opened as a hotel.
