Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Inn on the Hudson enjoys a prime location, praised for its stunning scenery by the Hudson River and convenient access to nearby attractions, such as Graymoor and Woodbury Common Premium Outlet. It's ideally situated for exploring nearby city venues, river towns and Connecticut, as well as being close to Peekskill's town center and local restaurants. The breathtaking river views from the hotel enhance its scenic appeal, making it a perfect spot for leisurely walks or morning coffee on the patio. Despite some noise insulation concerns, the location, combined with friendly and helpful staff, significantly compensates.
The breakfast at Inn on the Hudson has received mixed reviews. Guests appreciate the convenience of the "grab and go" breakfast, highlighting items like muffins, cereal bars, yogurt and hot coffee in the lobby. However, some felt the breakfast was subpar, describing it as simplistic and pre-packaged, lacking a dining room setup, leading to disappointments in quality and variety.
Rooms at the Inn offer a mixed experience. Positives include cleanliness, comfortable beds and scenic views of the Hudson River. However, many guests noted the need for updates and repairs, mentioning dated decor, worn-out mattresses, poor lighting and small bathrooms. Issues like broken amenities and noise disturbances also detracted from the overall experience. The rooms, while providing basic comfort and cleanliness, fall short of modern expectations.
Cleanliness reviews are mixed, but many guests affirm the rooms are clean and fresh upon arrival with clean linens, sheets and towels. The charming, homey atmosphere and the provision of amenities like a mini fridge and microwave are appreciated. Yet, the hotel suffers from maintenance issues, such as peeling ceilings and uncomfortable bedding, leading to specific cleanliness complaints in some areas. Despite these, basic cleanliness and charm remain positives.
The staff at Inn on the Hudson receive high praise for their friendliness and helpfulness, described as professional, accommodating and hard-working. Front desk personnel and maintenance staff, in particular, are noted for their exceptional service. While there were a few complaints about rude housekeepers, the overall impression is that of a welcoming and supportive team.
Guest reviews for the beds are mixed. Some found the beds comfortable and cozy, while others reported issues with old, worn-out mattresses, squeaky springs and inadequate bedding comfort. Cleanliness issues, such as hair on the pillows and beds, were also mentioned. Although a few guests enjoyed their beds, many indicated a need for updated and more comfortable sleeping arrangements.
