Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Hostal Andaina is a highly regarded accommodation option in the heart of Oaxaca, praised for its exceptional central location. Situated just steps from the Zocalo and the bustling 20 de Noviembre market, the hostel is ideally positioned for guests to explore the rich cultural and historical tapestry of the city. Visitors appreciate the easy access to markets, shops, restaurants and historical sites, making it a convenient hub for sightseeing. Despite its central location, the hostel maintains a serene and quiet atmosphere complemented by multiple terraces, including a rooftop with panoramic city views.
Guests have a positive breakfast experience, enjoying complimentary coffee and cookies with the added benefit of purified water available 24/7. The scenic setting for morning coffee further enhances the experience, although some guests expected a more extensive breakfast offering.
The hostel offers clean, affordable and basic accommodations with spacious rooms that feature large windows and ample natural light. While some rooms may suffer from noise and temperature control issues, the overall cleanliness and practical amenities are appreciated. Shared bathrooms and common areas are notably well-maintained and the hostel's large communal spaces, including a well-equipped kitchen and rooftop terrace, create a welcoming environment. The friendly and helpful staff contribute significantly to the positive guest experience.
Hostal Andaina’s cleanliness receives consistent praise with spotless rooms, bathrooms and communal areas that are meticulously maintained, ensuring a hygienic and comfortable stay. The dedicated cleaning staff ensures high standards of cleanliness across the property.
Guests commend the staff for their friendliness and helpfulness, enhancing the overall stay with their accommodating and efficient service. Despite some communication challenges due to language barriers, the staff's warm demeanor fosters a comfortable atmosphere for guests. Instances of dissatisfaction are minimal and generally outweighed by positive experiences.
While the WiFi in common areas is strong and fast, connectivity issues are common in individual rooms, particularly on upper floors. This may pose a challenge for guests requiring reliable internet access within their rooms.
Parking at Hostal Andaina is manageable yet limited with an established arrangement for nearby parking facilities. Guests traveling with bicycles might face minor inconveniences due to the lack of a dedicated bike parking area on the ground floor.
The central location of Hostal Andaina is both a boon and a bane for nightlife enthusiasts. It offers easy access to vibrant nightlife options and the convenience of a 24-hour front desk service. However, the bustling commercial street generates significant noise, particularly at night, posing a challenge for those sensitive to external disturbances.
The bed quality at the hostel is mixed with some guests finding them comfortable and others experiencing discomfort due to hard mattresses, small bed sizes and aging bedding. Room quality can vary and the hostel is recommended for travelers who prioritize central location and cleanliness over luxury.
Hostal Andaina caters to an adults-only crowd, providing a peaceful and calm atmosphere ideal for guests seeking a quiet environment. The clientele mainly consists of older adults, contributing to the tranquility of the setting. Despite occasional fee increases during large group visits, the hostel excels in delivering a serene, adult-centric stay.
Overall, Hostal Andaina offers great value for money with its prime location, excellent cleanliness, supportive staff and well-maintained facilities, making it a solid choice for visitors looking to immerse themselves in Oaxaca's vibrant culture and history.
