The palazzo was a private residence purchased in the late 19th century by a Maltese philanthropist by the name of Vincenzo Bugeja. In the 20th century, the property was used to house a number of poor and underprivileged families living in Valletta, but in 1994 it had to be closed off, as it had become unsafe for tenants to live in. The palazzo was purchased by the current owners in 2016, and consequently converted into a stylish boutique hotel. Opting for a fusion of textured materials and surfaces, such as concrete, glass and steel, our design team has created a wonderful environment and space in which the seemingly raw and lavish collide.
THE FACILITIES
19 Rooms boasts a gorgeous internal courtyard, lounge and chill-out area, where you can put their feet up and snuggle into comfortable armchairs on our carpet-like patterned floor, or you may simply wish to grab a book off our shelves and spend the afternoon reading, sipping coffee and listening to good music.
OUR LOCATION
19 Rooms is located in the heart of the capital city of Valletta – just a 3-minute walk from the activities on the main street and a flight of stairs away from the coastline. Valletta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and as such, the city boasts incredible Baroque architecture, several churches, museums and galleries, as well as impressive historical landmarks such as the Grand Master’s Palace, St John’s Co-Cathedral and Fort St Elmo, making it a fascinating place to explore.
Complementing the rich history and architecture, Valletta also offers a bustling and eclectic restaurant and bar scene.
The capital city is also the central hub to Malta’s bus network; accessible from the main entrance to Valletta, guests can easily reach various sites, attractions and places of interest, around the island. Guests can also tap into a range of eco-friendly mobility options, such as scooters, motor bikes and cars.
