Hotel Grand, a three-star establishment in Sarajevo, stands out for its strategic location and commendable staff. Guests appreciate the hotel's proximity to the main train and bus stations and the 20-30 minute walk or brief taxi/tram ride to the city center and old town. The surrounding area, though not particularly appealing to pedestrians, offers practical connections and essential services like supermarkets. Guests find this location, along with secure parking facilities, to be excellent for the price.
The hotel’s breakfast receives widespread praise for its plentiful and diverse options. Descriptors like excellent, superb, rich and tasty are frequently used, though some guests suggest more variety could enhance the experience. The friendly and welcoming breakfast staff contribute positively to the dining atmosphere. However, the lack of dinner service on-site is a significant drawback, leaving guests to seek external dining options.
Guest experiences with the rooms at Hotel Grand are varied but lean positive, emphasizing cleanliness and comfort. Newly renovated rooms receive especially high marks for their modern amenities, while some older rooms face issues like malfunctioning equipment and limited power outlets. Despite occasional problems like smoking odors or musty smells, the overall sentiment highlights the cleanliness of the hotel with regular room service and clean communal areas frequently mentioned.
The staff is a notable asset with reviews often highlighting their friendliness, helpfulness and professionalism. Many guests commend specific employees, contributing to a positive overall service experience, though isolated incidents of less favorable interactions do occur. The Wi-Fi service, while strong in common areas like the lobby, struggles in higher floors and individual rooms, leading to an inconsistent internet experience for some guests.
Hotel Grand excels with its free and secure parking, accommodating both cars and motorcycles, adding convenience for drivers. Families can find spacious rooms and easy check-ins, though they might note the occasional lack of air conditioning in some rooms, making the hotel more suitable for short stays.
For business travelers, the hotel offers good value for money and a conducive environment for business activities, despite some extra charges and the less ideal surrounding area. Accessibility features such as a wheelchair ramp and accessible rooms are provided, yet the older facilities might not fully meet all needs.
In summary, Hotel Grand is a practical, clean and comfortable choice for travelers. Its strategic location, friendly staff and decent amenities make it a valuable option for budget-conscious guests, business travelers and those looking for accessibility features, provided they manage expectations around the limitations in dining and internet services.

Hotel Walter has left guests questioning its four-star status, as many reviews suggest that the hotel falls short of this rating. Observations from guests indicate that the establishment feels more like a one or two-star property. Comments highlight that both the facilities and the general upkeep of the hotel did not meet the expectations typically associated with a four-star hotel, with some describing it as run-down and in need of significant improvements. Overall, Hotel Walter's claim to four-star quality seems widely disputed among those who have stayed there, pointing to a need for reassessment of its offerings and the guest experience it currently provides.
