Gran Hotel Balneario de Liérganes is highly praised for its exceptional location in the heart of Liérganes, a charming and tranquil village nestled in a picturesque valley. The hotel benefits from its serene surroundings and proximity to local attractions, making it ideal for a relaxing getaway. Guests appreciate the lush gardens and convenient access to nearby towns and Santander.
The breakfast experience at the hotel receives predominantly positive feedback. Guests commend the variety, quality and tranquil dining ambiance with the buffet featuring diverse options, including local homemade products. Staff attentiveness further enhances the breakfast experience, although some guests noted repetitive offerings and organizational issues, such as long queues at the coffee machine.
Dinner at the hotel garners mixed reviews. While the quality of the food is often described as delicious and exceptional, the lack of variety in the fixed menu and the high cost of some meals detract from the overall dining experience. Additionally, the restaurant's closure for lunch and dinner can be inconvenient for some guests.
The rooms at Gran Hotel Balneario de Liérganes offer spaciousness and comfort, particularly those with balconies and terraces. However, the hotel's age is apparent in the dated furnishings and decor with some maintenance issues like stains, dampness, peeling walls and rusty showers affecting the overall comfort. Noise from non-soundproofed rooms and small, outdated bathrooms are also concerns.
Cleanliness is a significant issue for many guests with numerous reports of cobwebs, insects and general dirtiness in rooms and common areas. Inconsistent cleaning services and a neglected appearance further contribute to a disappointing stay for many, despite some positive remarks about friendly cleaning staff.
The hotel staff receive high praise for their friendliness, attentiveness and professionalism. Guests highlight the exceptional service provided by employees across all departments, significantly enhancing the overall guest experience.
The hotel's spa receives mixed feedback. Positive comments focus on the relaxing thermal circuit, pleasant massages and serene gardens. However, many guests point out the need for renovations, citing deteriorating infrastructure, dampness, chipped tiles and unpleasant smells as areas for improvement.
Pool facilities also have mixed reviews. The thermal pool and king's pool are appreciated for their relaxing waters, but issues with malfunctioning jets, cold temperatures and a generally deteriorated appearance are noted. Some pools were out of operation, affecting overall satisfaction.
Guest feedback on the beds indicates comfort for some, but there are notable mentions of hard mattresses, low and uncomfortable pillows and noise issues affecting sleep quality. Overall, there is room for improvement in ensuring consistent comfort across all rooms.
In summary, Gran Hotel Balneario de Liérganes offers a picturesque and convenient location with friendly and attentive staff. While the breakfast service is well-received, dinner options and room conditions present areas for improvement. Cleanliness and maintenance issues are significant concerns, though some guests enjoy the spacious rooms and relaxing spa features. Ensuring consistent comfort and addressing the facility's renovation needs could enhance the overall guest experience.
