Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Hotel Novotel Domaine de Maffliers - Paris Val-d'Oise is celebrated for its exceptional location amidst a vast, green estate, providing tranquility and natural beauty just an hour away from Paris. The serene environment, highlighted by lush greenery and a spacious park, offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere conducive to relaxation and rejuvenation. The proximity to Charles de Gaulle Airport makes it convenient for international visitors, while the excellent train connections to Paris make it easy to explore both urban and rural settings. Families, couples and travelers with dogs find it an ideal choice for a brief getaway near Paris.
Guests largely praise the hearty, varied breakfast buffet, which includes unique items like the hotel's own honey. The spacious and bright breakfast area enhances the dining experience despite being in a different building from the main hotel. While some guests mention cold scrambled eggs and a lack of variety in certain items, the breakfast is generally deemed extensive and high-quality.
The dinner experience receives mixed reviews; the food is typically described as excellent, particularly in the château's dining venues, but meals are considered expensive. The repetition in the menu and the lack of room service are noted downsides. Although some dishes and sides received specific complaints, the atmosphere and friendly staff contribute positively to the dining experience.
Rooms are appreciated for their cleanliness, comfort and practicality, especially the spacious superior and executive rooms with lovely park views. However, some guests feel that the rooms are outdated, cramped or poorly equipped with issues like unpleasant smells and insufficient modern amenities. Despite this, the friendly staff and picturesque estate help mitigate concerns.
Cleanliness overall receives mixed but mostly positive feedback. The rooms and bathrooms are often praised for their cleanliness, though some guests report issues with specific areas, such as the indoor pool and changing rooms. Maintenance issues like mold and late cleaning services have been noted, but the hotel's hygiene standards are generally considered satisfactory.
The staff is frequently commended for their friendliness, attentiveness and professionalism with particular employees like Myriam standing out for exceptional service. While there are occasional mentions of unhelpful or less competent staff, especially in the bar and restaurant areas, the overall consensus is that the staff significantly enhances the guest experience.
The hotel's free WiFi and mobile reception need improvement with guests experiencing unreliable connections and poor phone signals, particularly in basement rooms. The WiFi's inconsistency adds to the frustration, detracting from an otherwise pleasant stay.
The estate offers both indoor and outdoor pools with the outdoor pool praised for its beauty and well-maintained, heated saltwater. However, the indoor pool often receives criticism for its cold water and minimal equipment. Overcrowding and occasional dirtiness of the outdoor pool are also noted issues.
Parking is convenient and secure with free parking spaces available, although the non-functional electric charging point is a minor drawback. Guests generally find the parking conditions accessible and safe.
The hotel is highly regarded as a family destination, offering a variety of kid-friendly activities and facilities like a swimming pool suitable for children, pony riding, tennis and table tennis. The family-oriented atmosphere and the supportive staff contribute to a memorable stay, making it ideal for family weekends.
Beds receive generally positive remarks for comfort and quality, though some guests find the mattresses too soft or the pillows too hard. Despite a few mixed reviews about the extra beds and specific issues, the overall impression of the bedding is favorable.
Overall, while Hotel Novotel Domaine de Maffliers - Paris Val-d'Oise is classified as a four-star establishment, some guests feel it falls short of their expectations in areas such as mobile reception, bathroom conditions and the check-in process. Nonetheless, the beautiful natural setting, friendly staff and excellent breakfast contribute to a largely positive guest experience.
