As a UNESCO World Heritage site, La Saline Royale actively preserves its natural environment. It is a classified LPO (Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux) refuge, uses no pesticides since 2014, and employs mechanical and manual weeding. The site holds the highest level (level 3) of the 'Charte d'entretien des espaces publics' certification, promotes reuse and recycling, and uses LED lighting. It also focuses on ecological garden design, water saving, and permaculture principles.
