Breakfast
Guests at Regency House have expressed dissatisfaction with the breakfast arrangements at the establishment. Many reviewers pointed out that breakfast options were either unclear or entirely unavailable during their stays. The concept of a breakfast room seemed misleading, as guests encountered minimal activity or amenities there, often finding only basic tables, chairs, utensils and a fridge. Some reviews suggested the possibility of breakfast being delivered to rooms, but this service was described negatively with one patron finding it particularly humiliating and unsatisfactory. Overall, the experience of breakfast at Regency House has left many visitors disappointed, noting the inconsistency and lack of provision.
Rooms
Regency House in Cambridge offers a blend of smart, clean and cozy rooms that generally satisfy the needs of travelers. Guests appreciate the cleanliness with rooms and shared bathrooms frequently noted for being tidy and well-maintained. The décor is often described as pleasant and modern and some rooms even feature gorgeous en suite bathrooms.
Despite these positive aspects, many reviewers mention the small size of the rooms, which can feel quite cramped especially when accommodating more than two people. However, this seems to be a minor issue for many, given the overall comfort and coziness, including comfy beds and well-equipped kitchens. The convenient location near central Cambridge and walking distance to several great pubs is repeatedly praised, making it easier for guests to explore the area.
Although some rooms can be a bit dark, noisy or have minor issues like awkward furniture arrangements, these concerns are outweighed by the advantages of the good location and the attentive, friendly staff. Regency House manages to provide a satisfactory stay with basic yet effective amenities, making it a reasonable choice for those looking for a short and comfortable visit to Cambridge.
Beds
Regency House's beds have garnered mixed feedback from guests with many emphasizing comfort and quality. Numerous comments highlight the comfort levels, calling their beds "comfy," "comfortable," and "very comfy." Guests frequently mentioned having a great night's sleep and appreciated the soft and luxurious linens and duvets. Descriptions such as "the bed was literally one of the comfiest I've slept in" and "very comfortable bed" resonate throughout the reviews.
However, the guest experiences weren't universally positive. A few indicated issues with the softness or support with remarks about beds being "too soft" or lacking sufficient comfort. Some reviews noted that single bed mattresses felt worn out and extra beds were particularly uncomfortable with one even described as a board of wood that caused soreness. There were isolated comments about hard beds and insufficiently sized mattresses. Additionally, one guest raised concerns about cleanliness, mentioning a mattress liner that appeared to have signs similar to bed bugs.
Despite these varied experiences, many guests seemed to leave feeling that the comfortable beds contributed positively to their stay, particularly for the main beds, which were frequently praised.
Cleanliness
Nestled in a prime location, Regency House has garnered notable praise for its cleanliness and comfortable accommodations. Guests frequently highlight the spotless condition of both private and shared spaces, such as bathrooms and kitchens, which are consistently maintained to high standards. The rooms are not only clean but also well-decorated, cozy and equipped with essential amenities that ensure a hassle-free stay. Many reviewers appreciate the seamless check-in and check-out process, which adds to the overall convenience of the experience.
The attention to cleanliness extends to every corner of the property, from neat rooms to clean shared utensils in the kitchen. The property’s housekeeping team receives accolades for their diligent work, keeping the environment fresh and inviting. The location, combined with the modern and tidy decor, makes it an attractive option for travelers seeking both comfort and value for money.
However, there are occasional remarks about minor issues such as stains or the need for better attention to detail in some areas. Despite these few criticisms, the overwhelming majority of guests commend the high level of cleanliness and the excellent condition of the property. Overall, Regency House stands out as a clean, comfortable and well-situated choice for a pleasant stay.
Staff
The guest reviews for Regency House highlight a mixed yet generally positive impression of the hotel staff. The majority of guests found the staff to be very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Notably, the host and other staff members were praised for their responsiveness, whether through quick replies to inquiries or being easily reachable via WhatsApp. The housekeeper's joyful and helpful demeanor was specifically mentioned, reflecting a genuine interest in guest satisfaction.
However, some reviews also pointed out issues related to staff availability. Several guests mentioned that there was no staff onsite to assist with check-ins or other immediate needs, relying instead on a self-check-in process, which was appreciated by some but inconvenient for others. Instances of poor staff demeanor and accusations of unauthorized room use added to the negative feedback.
Despite these challenges, the overall tone towards the staff is positive with many guests highlighting effective communication and satisfactory assistance when needed.
Wi-Fi
Regency House has received mixed feedback regarding its WiFi service, leaning heavily towards the negative. Many guests found the WiFi connection to be unstable and unreliable with several reporting issues such as limited connectivity and very slow internet speeds. Some also mentioned the inadequate setup of ad-hoc boosters, which did not seem to provide an effective solution. While there were a few mentions of good and free WiFi, these were overshadowed by frequent complaints about poor and inconsistent signals, particularly in certain rooms. Overall, the hotel's WiFi service appears to need significant improvement to meet guest expectations.
3 Star
Regency House offers clean and comfortable accommodation with good facilities, meeting the purpose for many travelers. Its location is highly praised, being conveniently close to the city center, shops, restaurants and attractions, yet maintaining a peaceful environment. Guests appreciated the good price-performance ratio, although some found the rooms to be on the smaller side and, in some cases, overpriced for the space and amenities offered.
Despite the generally positive feedback on cleanliness and comfort, there are areas needing improvement. Some guests reported issues with climate control, room size and the comfort of additional bedding like futons, which were deemed barely usable. Additionally, the lack of an onsite reception and breakfast service were noted drawbacks, along with some concerns over the security of street-level rooms.
While the hotel provides a satisfactory experience for a short stay, addressing these concerns could significantly enhance guest satisfaction.
