Former Castle Hotel
Approached by a long drive that winds through acres of beautiful lawns, Dromoland Castle was at first home to the few families of Gaelic Royalty. The initial building was erected in the 15th century, while the building that stands there today was completed in 1835. It was originally built as a stronghold, but it was surrendered to King Henry VIII and was rebuilt shortly after. During the 1980s, the castle was purchased by American investors who renovated it extensively and turned it into the lavish castle hotel that it is today.
