The Mission Inn Hotel and Spa in Riverside is a historic gem that offers a unique blend of old-world charm and modern convenience, making it a popular choice for both locals and travelers. The hotel’s central location is frequently lauded with guests appreciating its proximity to restaurants, bars, museums, shops and notable landmarks. Despite occasional mentions of surrounding construction and local homelessness, the overwhelming sentiment highlights the scenic beauty and convenience of the area.
The dining experience at The Mission Inn Hotel and Spa is another standout feature. Breakfast in the courtyard is often described as a European experience and options like breakfast with champagne add a touch of luxury. Duane's steakhouse and other on-site restaurants receive high praise for their food quality and ambiance. While some guests suggest the addition of a buffet and better planning to avoid wait times, the overall dining experience is considered delightful.
Rooms at the hotel are appreciated for their spaciousness, unique mission-style aesthetics and comfortable linens. Beautifully decorated rooms with views of the courtyard or small balconies enhance the stay. However, noise levels, room size inconsistency and occasional maintenance issues are areas where the hotel could improve. Nevertheless, the hotel’s rich history and helpful staff contribute to a generally positive experience.
Cleanliness is another aspect that guests often praise, highlighting the beautifully maintained property and ultra-clean rooms. While some guests encountered issues like dirty carpets and unclean bathrooms, these were generally minor inconveniences overshadowed by the hotel’s overall appeal.
The staff at The Mission Inn Hotel and Spa receives mixed reviews. Many guests find the team helpful, friendly and professional with several staff members going above and beyond to enhance the guest experience. However, some inconsistencies in service quality and specific complaints about the front desk and bar staff indicate areas for improvement.
The spa and pool areas are popular among guests with the spa praised for its treatments and ambiance. Although some guests noted issues like the sauna not being hot enough and limited availability for couples massages, the overall spa experience remains positive. The pool area is appreciated for its relaxing ambiance and excellent service, although issues like overcrowding and limited lounge seating have been mentioned.
Wi-Fi at the hotel has been a common point of concern with many guests disappointed by the additional charge for high-speed internet and inconsistent connectivity. The outdated electrical system in the rooms further exacerbates these frustrations.
Parking is another area where guests express mixed feelings. High parking fees are commonly mentioned with some guests suggesting that the costs should be included in the room rate. Despite the convenience of valet parking, the additional fees and occasional difficulties in finding a parking space are points of contention.
In summary, The Mission Inn Hotel and Spa stands out for its rich history, beautiful architecture and overall charm. While there are areas for improvement, particularly in service consistency, Wi-Fi and parking, the hotel offers a memorable experience that many guests cherish.
