The very large rooms are comfortable with nice linen and the bathrooms are great. Guests say it's definitely worth a stay in this beautiful area of Scotland and highly recommend the hotel. Despite one review stating the hotel sadly promised more than it delivered, the vast majority of guests describe their stay as perfect and exceptional.

Additionally, there were complaints about the lack of customer service for a four-star hotel, overpriced rates and lack of atmosphere inside which felt freezing. Some guests felt that the hotel is not up to four-star standards, as the executive accommodation was not really executive standard. Many guests felt that the Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel & Spa fell short of their expectations and needed to improve to be classified as a four-star hotel.
