Review Summaries

Summarized by AI

Location

Hawks Cay Resort enjoys a prime position in the heart of the Florida Keys, offering guests stunning vistas and a peaceful atmosphere. Visitors appreciate the beautiful grounds and enjoy mesmerizing views and sunsets from the waterfront and balconies. The resort is centrally situated between the popular spots of Islamorada and Marathon, making it an ideal base for exploring the lower Keys. Facilities at the resort are remarkably clean and well maintained, contributing to its reputation as a true American resort with an island vibe. Guests commend the excellent location, which combines tranquility with easy access to local attractions, enhancing the overall experience of a family getaway or a relaxing vacation. The resort also includes unique features such as a natural lagoon with sand and seawater, adding to its appeal as a premier destination.

Breakfast

Hawks Cay Resort offers a stunning setting but seems to fall short when it comes to breakfast offerings. Guests have noted that the absence of a breakfast buffet is a missed opportunity, and many feel that the available options are limited and overpriced. With charges like $22 for scrambled eggs, visitors often find themselves venturing into the nearby town for more affordable meal options. While breakfast is not included in the stay, which some might expect at a resort of this caliber, there is a clear consensus that having a more varied and reasonably priced breakfast solution would enrich the overall experience for guests.

Dinner

Hawks Cay Resort offers a mixed dining experience that caters to diverse tastes and budgets. For those seeking a delicious meal without breaking the bank, the Tiki Bar stands out with good food that is reasonably priced. Several guests appreciated the friendly and welcoming service provided by the staff at the Tiki Bar, particularly highlighting the efforts of TJ and Anthony. The upscale steakhouse presents a more sophisticated dining option at Hawks Cay Resort, with guests noting that the dinner was delicious and reasonably priced considering the upscale setting. However, some reviews indicate challenges with the availability of menu items and question the value for the quality provided. Additionally, a concern regarding the high pricing at restaurants and marketplace was raised by some visitors. Overall, while the dining experiences at Hawks Cay Resort receive positive marks for taste and service, especially at the Tiki Bar, it’s worth considering individual restaurant choices based on personal preferences regarding cost and menu availability.

Rooms

Hawks Cay Resort offers a mixed experience when it comes to its accommodations. Many guests commend the rooms for being spacious and comfortable, with some offering fantastic views of the ocean and canals. The overall setup of the hotel and its amenities, such as the lagoon with free paddle boarding and canoeing, adds to the charm of the stay. Cleanliness is often highlighted positively, particularly in certain villas on the harbor, which are described as beautiful and well-kept. However, there are notable drawbacks. Some rooms, while spacious, are considered dated and in need of modernization to match the cost of staying at the resort. Comfort varies significantly, with several guests finding the beds uncomfortable or hard. Issues with maintenance, such as broken bathroom doors, missing towel hooks, and blown light bulbs, detract from the experience. Noise also poses a problem, whether from neighboring rooms or noisy carpets in some accommodations. The descriptions of accommodations have occasionally led to some bewilderment, with rooms facing unexpected directions or lacking promised views, such as those of the harbor. Despite these mixed reviews, the activities available, the scenic views, and the presence of dolphins contribute positively to the overall experience at Hawks Cay Resort, though guests suggest improvements in room comfort and maintenance are necessary.

Beds

The beds at Hawks Cay Resort received mixed feedback from guests. While some reviews highlighted the beds as soft and comfortable, there were several remarks about feeling outdated and needing an update. Guests mentioned discomfort due to lumpy mattresses and noisy beds, with particular criticisms about the king bed being excessively hard. There were also complaints about inadequate pillows, with some guests even receiving couch cushions instead. The absence of a box spring in some rooms resulted in low beds, adding to the dissatisfaction. Despite these concerns, a few guests did find the beds cozy, yet overall improvement in bedding quality seems necessary.

Cleanliness

Hawks Cay Resort shines with its beautifully maintained grounds and clean, inviting pools that consistently leave a positive impression. The lobby offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with rooms that are artfully designed and generally clean, enhancing the overall appeal of the property. Many guests appreciate the resort's aesthetics, praising its style and the cleanliness of the rooms and the resort as a whole. However, there are occasional reports of cleanliness issues, particularly concerning bathrooms and some villa conditions, which suggest inconsistencies in housekeeping. Despite these concerns, the resort's stunning appearance and great location stand out, promising a delightful experience for visitors who prioritize comfort and aesthetics.

Staff

Hawks Cay Resort presents an overall positive experience with its dedicated team of staff members. Guests frequently highlight the friendliness and welcoming nature of the majority of the staff, playing a pivotal role in enhancing their stay. The service excellence shines through particularly with specific mentions of Jhonae, the pool server, and Jason, the bartender at the Pilar Bar, whose exceptional service added to the guests' positive experiences. Although a few interactions at the reception and Tiki Bar reflected a less friendly vibe, the general sentiment leans towards a cordial and accommodating atmosphere. The staff's pride in maintaining the property is apparent, and many guests find them to be responsive and attentive to their needs. The resort benefits from a prime location and offers first-class services that complement the friendliness of the staff, making it a highly recommended destination. With a wide array of activities on the property, guests have plenty to enjoy without ever having to leave the resort. Overall, despite occasional inconsistencies, the dedication and amiability of most staff members make Hawks Cay Resort a memorable experience for visitors.

Pool

Hawks Cay Resort offers a well-laid-out pool area that is both spacious and aesthetically pleasing, forming a part of the property's overall stunning appeal. Guests consistently remark on the cleanliness and beauty of the pools, making it a delightful spot for swimming and relaxation. The pool and adjacent saltwater lagoon provide a serene and enjoyable experience, further enhanced by attentive waitstaff. Visitors appreciate the resort-like atmosphere, with outdoor lounges situated conveniently by the pool, contributing to a luxurious ambiance. While some may find the pool areas crowded during peak times such as Thanksgiving, the positive aspects of the pool facilities, combined with exciting activities like dolphin encounters, create an alluring and memorable environment for guests.

Family

Nestled in a magnificent setting, Hawks Cay Resort emerges as a prime destination for families, particularly those with young children under 12 years old. The resort offers a delightful mini water park, ensuring endless fun for the little ones. A beach equipped with water mats further enhances the children's experience, providing safe enjoyment by the ocean. The dolphin encounter is a standout activity, allowing families to engage with these remarkable creatures and capture cherished memories with family pictures. The resort is hailed as a great family vacation property, with excellent options and plenty to do for the children. Its family-friendly atmosphere is complemented by a highly regarded staff, known for their exceptional service, contributing to the welcoming ambiance of the resort. While the focus is on creating a wonderful experience for families, the setting and activities make Hawks Cay Resort a truly remarkable place for a memorable family getaway.
