The hotel is described as pet-friendly, allowing pets to stay in the rooms. However, mixed feedback highlights some areas for improvement. While the hotel accommodates dogs, some guests felt that service could be enhanced. There were instances where external room noise, such as dogs barking, was a concern for some visitors. Colonial Resort-1000Islands, located in the charming town of Gananoque, consistently receives praise for its prime location and tranquil ambiance. Guests value its proximity to downtown, the marina beach and the starting point for 1000 Islands cruises. The resort’s extensive and well-maintained grounds offer a peaceful environment perfect for outdoor relaxation.
The resort’s breakfast receives mixed reviews with many appreciating the simplicity of items such as toast, muffins, cereal, yogurt, fruit and beverages. Some guests find it convenient and sufficient, though others suggest expanding the variety to include bagels, cheese and eggs to enhance the experience.
Opinions about the rooms are varied with praises for cleanliness, spaciousness and charming features like King Beds and fireplaces in some rooms. However, there are notable criticisms regarding outdated furniture, inconsistent cleanliness and maintenance issues such as mold and musty smells. The overall condition of the rooms suggests a need for comprehensive updates and renovations.
While some guests commend the hotel’s cleanliness, particularly in terms of comfortable beds and well-maintained facilities, others highlight significant concerns, especially with the bathrooms. Issues like moldy windows and unclean bathtubs detract from the overall cleanliness, indicating that thorough housekeeping is inconsistent.
