On the positive side, some found the pool area to be a pleasant space for family visits, noting its appeal when spending time with grandkids. There were comments appreciating its size and the perfection of its water temperature on certain occasions. Additionally, the pool area served its purpose well for some visitors, providing a nice swimming option and acting as a bonus amenity of the hotel.
However, numerous guests highlighted concerns regarding cleanliness and maintenance. Several reviews pointed out that the pool often appeared dirty, cloudy and murky with specific mentions of it occasionally having a unpleasant smell. The pool area conditions were sometimes messy with water around the seating areas and a general lack of supervision. There were also reports of a dated appearance, chipped paint and faulty facilities, like an out-of-order hot tub. The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel South Bend has a pool on the property, which is a great amenity for guests to enjoy during their stay. While there were some reviews mentioning that the pool was closed or unavailable due to maintenance or repairs, there were also some positive comments about the spaciousness and temperature of the pool. Unfortunately, there were a few complaints about the high chlorine levels causing skin irritation, but overall the pool seemed to be a nice option for guests to relax and cool off during their visit. The hot tub, however, was mentioned multiple times as being out of order or closed, which was a disappointment for some guests who were looking forward to using this feature. Despite these setbacks, the hotel offers comfortable accommodations and friendly service for guests to enjoy.
