Staff at The Lake Hotel can also help you arrange countless activities in the area, including mountain climbing, horseback riding, fishing, surfing, golfing, and more.
The Lake Hotel was built in 1820 and is said to be haunted by Donal McCarthy Mor, the founder of Muckross Abbey which is near the hotel. McCarthy was a ferocious and heartless warrior and his ghost has been sighted in the hotel's bar, overlooking Lough Leane. Another ghost that has been reported wandering around the hotel is that of a young girl from the 19th century, although her story and reasons for haunting the premises still remain unknown.
