Mercure Parkhotel Mönchengladbach, once a shining example of a 4-star establishment, appears to have lost some of its luster. Guests frequently note that while the hotel maintains its classification, it falls short of the expected standards in several areas. The absence of what many regard as basic 4-star amenities, such as a small refrigerator in the rooms, has been specifically highlighted. The breakfast offerings are described as merely adequate, lacking the impressive spread one might anticipate from a hotel of this rating. Concerns have also been raised about the overall state of the property, with comments indicating that the hotel is showing signs of age and may be resting on accolades from a previous era. The value for money is questioned by some, suggesting that the pricing does not correspond to the level of service and facilities provided. While guests may find elements typical of a 4-star hotel, expectations are not fully met, leading to uncertainty about the hotel's current standing within its star category.

Hotel Freiraum has received mixed feedback from guests, particularly when compared to typical four-star standards. While several reviewers have noted their disappointment with the sound insulation and overall services not aligning with a four-star rating, others have highlighted the hotel's commendable cleanliness and praised the excellent price-performance ratio. Guests appreciated the good and tidy rooms, describing them as offering great value for money, and enjoyed the availability of a good breakfast and free parking. However, recurring comments suggest that despite its self-awarded four stars, some guests felt the experience was more akin to a lower-rated establishment. While there is room for improvement, particularly in soundproofing and service quality, the hotel offers a budget-friendly stay with satisfactory basic amenities.
