The Pickwick Inn & Oliver's Restaurant, nestled in the tranquil countryside just outside Padstow, is celebrated for offering a serene escape with spectacular views of the Camel Estuary and the sea. The location is praised for its peaceful setting, allowing guests to wake to the sounds of nature and its convenient base for exploring North Cornwall, despite suggestions that a car is necessary to fully enjoy the area.
The accommodations at the inn are frequently highlighted for their spaciousness, modern amenities and high level of cleanliness. Rooms offer beautiful, uninterrupted vistas of the estuary, fields and sea and are noted for their tasteful design and luxurious bathrooms. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds with many highlighting the king or super king-size options and the attentive and friendly service from staff members, enhancing the overall experience.
Dining at The Pickwick Inn & Oliver's Restaurant is a standout feature with both breakfast and dinner receiving high praise. Breakfast impresses with its quality, extensive range and locally sourced ingredients. The varied options cater to specific dietary needs and are served with generous portions and friendly service. Dinner similarly excels, offering a refined dining experience with well-prepared and beautifully presented dishes, particularly seafood. The restaurant's popularity means securing a table can be challenging, but those who do are treated to exceptional meals in a glass-fronted setting with spectacular views.
The inn's impeccable cleanliness is another frequently highlighted strength with guests noting the spotlessly clean, modern and well-maintained rooms and facilities. Although there are minor concerns regarding specific areas needing more attention, the general consensus is one of high standard quality and comfort.
Staff at The Pickwick Inn & Oliver's Restaurant are often commended for their friendliness, helpfulness and efficiency with many guests pointing out the team's professionalism and warmth, significantly enhancing the guest experience. Specific staff members receive frequent praise for their exceptional hospitality.
While the outdoor swimming pool offers a lovely addition to the inn, reviews suggest it would benefit from better maintenance and care. Issues such as weeds, a broken ladder and the pool's unheated nature were noted, though some guests remained appreciative of the pool despite these concerns.
Overall, The Pickwick Inn & Oliver's Restaurant receives high marks for its peaceful, picturesque location, outstanding views, comfortable and well-appointed rooms, exceptional dining and the warm and helpful demeanor of its staff, making it a noteworthy destination for travelers seeking both comfort and elegance in North Cornwall.
