Very Good
Location
The Headland Hotel & Spa is perfectly situated on the headland overlooking the bay, providing guests with breathtaking sea views from many parts of the hotel. The hotel is just on the outskirts of town but within easy walking distance with a scenic 15-30 minute cliff top walk into Torquay. Although up a very steep hill, the location is idyllic and excellent for peace and quiet. Guests can enjoy access to the South West Coast Path less than 50 yards from the front of the hotel and a viewpoint of Meadfoot Beach approximately 150 yards from the hotel, which is well worth the climb for the stunning views. The hotel's location is also ideal for those wanting to explore Torquay with plenty to see and do and a pleasant walk into the center. The hotel itself is a lovely building inside and out with a beautiful terrace overlooking the bay. Additionally, there is a reasonably sized car park and easy access for those driving. Whether you're looking for a great wedding venue, a relaxing place to stay or a base for exploring the stunning nature around Torquay, The Headland Hotel & Spa offers a great location and lovely views.

Breakfast
According to guest reviews, the breakfast at The Headland Hotel & Spa was a mixed bag. Some described the breakfast as amazing, excellent and great with a lovely buffet style that offered multi-choice, good quality and quantity warm food. Guests also enjoyed the clean rooms and lovely views. However, others found the breakfast to be very ordinary with poor cooking, dirty tables and no good bread or rolls. Additionally, some guests felt that the breakfast was not substantial enough and the breakfast time was too late for them to get to work on time. Nevertheless, the food ordered from the café was very nice and the staff at breakfast were described as delightful. Overall, the breakfast had a good variety of cereals and condiments, but some items lacked flavour.

Dinner
If you're planning a stay at The Headland Hotel & Spa and wondering about the dining experience, the reviews are a bit mixed. On one hand, many guests found the food to be excellent with nice meals and a good variety of choices offered every night. The three-course evening meal in the main restaurant was a highlight for some with excellent steaks available as a supplement.

However, others had poor experiences with rushed, impersonal service and a limited menu. Vegetarians in particular found the options lacking with only one choice offered on the dinner menu. To make matters worse, some guests reported finding mould on their bread.

Despite these issues, some guests found the restaurant to be a great value for money and even described the food as excellent. The lack of readily available information about the dinner and bar menus was a downside for some, but those who did try the restaurant were generally pleased with the quality of the food.

Rooms
The Headland Hotel & Spa offers a mixed bag of rooms with several guests raving about the beautiful and comfortable rooms with excellent sea views. Unfortunately, some guests found their rooms to be dated, tired and in need of updating. Cleanliness was also an issue for some guests with reports of dust and unclean bathrooms. Despite this, many guests complimented the comfortable beds and pillows with some having two easy chairs in their room. Some rooms were also spotted with period features. Noise was reported from some rooms, but staff were generally responsive in handling guest concerns. Overall, the hotel offers a range of room types that vary in size, decor and comfort level.

Beds
Guests of The Headland Hotel & Spa have had mixed experiences with their beds. Some guests reported very soft and comfortable beds with one guest even stating that it was the most comfortable bed on their UK trip. Others found the beds too soft or uncomfortable, including one guest who mentioned a noticeable bend in the mattress edges. A few guests were disappointed to find that their double bed was actually two single beds pushed together, leading to an uncomfortable sleep due to the seam in the middle. Pillows were also noted as a problem in some cases. However, several guests did report overall comfortable beds and clean rooms.

Cleanliness
Guests have generally found The Headland Hotel & Spa to be a very clean and well-maintained property. However, a few guests have reported incidents where cleaning may have fallen short, such as thick dust under beds or mouldy bread on the buffet. Despite this, most reviews praise the hotel's exceptional cleanliness with spotless rooms and facilities throughout. The bathroom is frequently highlighted as being impeccable, though a few guests have noted that some bathrooms could do with updating. Noise from adjoining rooms is occasionally reported, but otherwise, guests find the hotel to be in a beautiful location with comfortable, clean rooms.

Staff
The Headland Hotel & Spa is the perfect destination for those looking for a friendly and helpful staff. Many guests praised the exceptional service they received during their stay, describing the staff as charming, polite and hardworking. The staff go above and beyond to help guests have the best holiday experience possible. The hotel's lovely rooms and spa, combined with the gorgeous views and beautifully positioned Meadfoot Beach, create an idyllic getaway for travelers. The food was also a highlight for many guests, who raved about the delicious meals served by the friendly waiters and waitresses. Although some mentioned certain service areas experiencing staffing shortages and the occasional unhelpful receptionist, the overall impression was one of outstanding service by a dedicated and cheerful team. Even though the entertainment could have been better, guests appreciated the effort of the evening entertainers. All in all, The Headland Hotel & Spa is the perfect place for travelers who want a welcoming and accommodating staff.

Spa
Guests of The Headland Hotel & Spa have enjoyed the opportunity to use the modern and luxurious spa on site. Many have found the spa to be a lovely and relaxing experience with fabulous amenities and amazing therapists such as Stella. The hydrotherapy spa pool is especially awesome for a rejuvenating soak. Though some guests have noted that the spa area could use some attention with regards to decor and cleanliness, others appreciate the beautiful views and nice patio sitting area. Unfortunately, not all of the pools were working during some stays and some guests were disappointed to find out they had to pay extra for the spa facilities, especially since it was fully booked already. Despite this, guests generally recommend a visit to the spa at The Headland Hotel & Spa.

Beach
The Headland Hotel & Spa boasts a prime location beside the sea with stunning views of Meadfoot Beach from some parts of the hotel. Access to the South West Coast Path is less than 50 yards from the front of the hotel, making it convenient for guests to explore the coastline. Although some guests have reported issues such as a blown-in front window and a lack of hooks to hang towels, the hotel's beautiful location and short walk down a path to Meadfoot Beach make it a worthwhile stay. Visitors can also enjoy a breathtaking viewpoint of the beach approximately 150 yards from the hotel, which is well worth the climb back to the hotel. Overall, the Headland Hotel & Spa provides a fantastic base for those looking to explore the town and breathtaking surroundings.

Parking
If you're considering a stay at The Headland Hotel & Spa, it's worth noting that guests have had mixed reviews when it comes to the parking situation. Some guests were happy with the free parking and found it easy to find, while others found it limited or even a nightmare. The car park is reportedly reasonably sized, but some guests struggled to park and were pre-warned that parking could be hard. Additionally, some guests noted that there was a lack of parking and that it was not great for wedding parking. The hotel also apparently had coaches parked outside which sometimes obscured views across the bay. Overall, it seems that parking at The Headland Hotel & Spa might be a bit hit or miss depending on your luck and the time of your stay.

3 Star
The Headland Hotel & Spa seems to be a hotel with mixed reactions from guests. Some guests thought the facilities were very average and in a poor state of repair while others found the hotel to be grand and luxurious, albeit a bit outdated. However, the hotel's target audience seems to be elderly guests, making younger guests feel out of place. While some guests found the hotel ok, others were disappointed with their stay, especially for the price they paid. The hotel's spa also didn't meet guests' expectations. Despite this, some guests believe that with a bit of investment and updating, this hotel could easily reach 4-star status.
