The property dates back to 1800s with the first terrace built in 1892. From 1912 until 1937, it was home to Holdfast Bay Preparatory College, a prestigious boy school. The property and those surrounding it still retain the old-world feeling with its stained glass windows, detailed high plaster ceilings and floorboards. Recently, the hotel partnered with Che Chorley and Dave Court to create a 12-meter high art on the seawall.
