Haunted Hotels in the World

The Langham London hotel is famous not only for its luxurious accommodation but also for its ghost "residents".
Guests claim to have seen a man in Victorian wear in the room 333, as well as another one wearing military uniform that is believed to be the ghost of a German prince who committed suicide in the hotel just before WWI started. Also, the ghost of Napoleon the 3rd is believed to be haunting the basement.

Guests of the hotel talk about the ghost of a sailor that died during a fire and of one of a small girl that broke her neck in the pool area. Fairmont Banff Springs has the rumor of being haunted since guests report a ghost of a bellhop who disappears after helping them and it is believed, that it is the spirit of a former employee who died soon after he retired. Also, some guests report feeling a "freezing draft" on the staircase where once a bride fell to her death.

The spirit of Marilyn Monroe, who visited the hotel during the first Academy Awards, has been reported by guests and hotel staff in the poolside bar and at the suite where she once stayed. Also the spirit of Montgomery Clif, who also stayed once at the hotel, is rumored to be witnessed at room 928.

Isobella Shaw was married to Lord Shaw and were living in the castle. After she gave birth to her son he locked her inside a room and while she tried to escape through a window, she fell and died. Rumour has it that her ghost wanders in the castle looking for her son. Also, this 4-star Castle Hotel has a Ghost Room and very atmospheric dungeon.

1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa is considered to be America's most haunted hotel. Some of the ghosts haunting this hotel are an Irish stonemason, that died while the hotel was being built in 1885 where now is the room 218, another one is a former cancer patient's ghost, from the era that the hotel was a cancer hospital. Also, Norman Baker's spirit and a mystery patient's spirit that is said to be appearing in the luxury suites.

Guests of Hotel Del Coronado report strange activities taking place in a specific room, like the spirit of a woman standing close to the window, the television turning on and off by itself and the lights flickering. These paranormal activities had started when, in the late 19th century, Kate Morgan, a young woman who had checked in the hotel, took her own life at the room she was staying at. She had arrived at the hotel alone and it is said that she was waiting for someone who never came.

Bourbon Orleans Hotel has a rumor of being haunted by few spirits. The hotel started working in 1817 as a grand ballroom. Since then many guests claim to have seen the ghost of a dancer. Others say about a little girl's ghost from the time when the property was an orphanage. The city offers ghost tours and this hotel is among its destinations.

Jekyll Island Club Hotel is rumored to be haunted by the banker J. P. Morgan who during his stay at the hotel, was smoking his cigars every morning at 5 in the morning. Several guests say they have smelled cigar smoke the same hour of the day. Also the appearance of a ghost of a another former resident of the hotel who died in 1906 has been reported in the suite he once stayed.

Toftaholm Herrgård, is believed to be haunted by a ghost of a boy who committed suicide in the room with number 324. The boy was in love with the daughter of the baron who owned the property but she was forced to marry another man, and the boy hanged himself the day of the wedding. Guests of the hotel, report also strange noises and windows and doors found closed by themselves, while they were left open.

Hawthorne Hotel has had a few reports of paranormal activity. Some of them are reports for missing keys or lights turning off and on by themselves. Also outside the room 612, a woman's spirit has been seen quite a few times.

Château de Brissac's owner killed his wife and her lover, when he caught them together. Since then Charlotte's spirit is rumored to be wandering the castle and is known as the Green Lady, from the color of her gown. Many guests say that have heard her, crying in her try to remove the killing sword out of her chest.

The Heathman Hotel's guests have reported some paranormal activity in the hotels rooms. Some of those report change in temperature, noises, moving objects and the feeling of someone watching them.

Hotel Burchianti guests have reported several ghost encounters over the years. In the Fresco room, where Benito Mussolini had visited in the past, guests have said that they felt like someone was watching them and they felt an icy breath over the air. Also, guests say that they have witnessed various ghosts like those of children around the halls, that of a woman in a chair and also that of a maid cleaning around the hotel.

The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa has a number of paranormal activities reported over the years. There have been reports of a railroad conductor's spirit and also in one of the rooms, the San Marco, a ghostly string quartet. In this room once were held musical performances. The hotel also offers ghost tours during October.

Honorable judge John P. Slough, was involved in an argument in the hotel's lobby in 1867 resulting to his death. His spirit is supposed to be haunting this hotel. A report of a guests says that he was hearing footsteps late into the night and he complained to the front desk. The receptionist went to check the noises, and he saw a main with long black coat into the stair but when he followed the man, he disappeared. The long black coat was a signature accessory of the late judge.

The Hotel Provincial is rumored to be haunted. Over the years several seances have taken place in the hotel and some of them resulted in ghost revealing. Also, the spirit of the soldier is believed to be haunting the hotel with several reports saying that have seen his spirit materialize before disappearing again. Lastly, some weird incidents are doors opening or closing on their own, strange noises or voices and even a guest being pulled from her bed and dragged across the room from a force.

The Equinox Resort has an old photograph in display that captures a form that is supposedly a ghost. The hotel, founded in 1769, is also supposed to be haunted by Mary Todd Lincoln, the wife of Abraham Lincoln, and her sons. Guests have reported seeing a form that resembles her, while various objects such as a rocking chair have been mysteriously moved.

Although many famous guests have graced this hotel with their presence, it is actually the ghosts that lurk inside that garner most of the guests' attention. Strange sounds in the middle of the night, static interference in guests' electronic devices as well as encounters with the ghostly residents are only some of the paranormal activities that have been reported taking place at the hotel, and especially in room 318.
