Earliest accounts of the property dates back to 860 A.D. In 1236, the castle was conquered by Bela IV of Hungary. It was handed over to nobilities until 1482 where it became property of Matthias Covinus, King of Hungary for a brief period. In 1487, Hans von Konigsberg acquired the castle through Emperor Frederick III.
