Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Azores Youth Hostels - São Jorge is situated in a picturesque location in Calheta on São Jorge Island, offering guests stunning views of the ocean and Pico Island. The tranquil and peaceful surroundings, combined with the hostel's proximity to amenities, such as restaurants and shops, make it an ideal choice for visitors seeking to explore the island's beauty and culture. The location is highly praised for its accessibility to hiking trails and cultural spots, providing a cost-effective and scenic base for adventure.
Guests consistently commend the friendly and helpful staff, who go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. The staff, including individuals like Marcelo and Sonia, are well-informed regarding local information and are dedicated to accommodating guests' needs despite occasional language barriers.
The hostel provides spacious rooms with charming wooden furnishings, contributing to a comfortable experience for many guests. However, issues such as humidity and minor maintenance problems like unstable shower water pressure and sewage odors occasionally detract from the experience. Cleanliness receives mixed reviews, with some appreciating tidy rooms and common areas, while others encounter musty smells and maintenance shortcomings.
Breakfast services are modest, aligning with budget-friendly expectations, though consistency in variety and food availability could be improved. The scenic views and convenient parking options enhance the overall appeal, although the WiFi service is often unreliable, primarily functioning in common areas.
Overall, Azores Youth Hostels - São Jorge combines its spectacular location, dedicated staff, and architectural charm to offer an enjoyable stay, with room for improvement in certain facilities and services.
