Hotel Porto Downtown, while carrying a four-star label, has sparked some debate among its guests about whether this rating truly matches its offerings. Although the establishment has been praised for delivering exceptional and very good experiences to some, there's a noticeable sentiment that the hotel's standards align more closely with a three-star rating.
Several reviews highlight that the hotel's breakfast experience falls short of four-star expectations, mentioning limited variety and the use of egg powder for scrambled eggs as areas for improvement. Guests expected a wider range of high-quality options, such as freshly squeezed juice rather than from a can.
Room assessments suggest that amenities are somewhat basic, with limited seating and surfaces for personal items, reflecting more of a three-star caliber. Maintenance concerns, like the condition of bathroom door frames, have also been pointed out as not meeting the four-star standard.
Despite these criticisms, the hotel seems to offer a generally positive stay, as some visitors appreciated its overall good value and consistent service. However, for travelers who prioritize the nuanced luxuries typically associated with four-star hotels, this destination might feel a bit lacking.

The absence of a varied breakfast selection, including no vegetables and only scrambled eggs, left some visitors disappointed. Rooms were described as moderately comfortable but fell short in size and wardrobe space when compared to other four-star hotels. Additionally, the hotel's sound insulation needed improvement.
Despite these criticisms, some guests found the hotel to be a fair reflection of a four-star rating and appreciated it as a good base for their travels. Its good location was also highlighted positively. However, overall, many expected more in terms of maintenance, cleanliness and service to align with its four-star classification.
