Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Hôtel Restaurant des Lacs is highly favored for its prime location, offering convenient access to stunning natural sites such as lakes and waterfalls and being situated near hiking trails and ski resorts. Guests appreciate its proximity to tourist attractions like the Hérisson Waterfalls and the ease of travel afforded by the nearby train station and national road routes. The serene countryside setting, enhanced by a picturesque pool area and green spaces along the riverbank, provides a relaxing ambiance, even though some mention minor drawbacks like noise from the departmental road.
The hotel's breakfast offerings are generally viewed positively for being hearty and generous with a well-stocked buffet providing a wide selection of pastries, bread, jams, cold cuts, yogurt and coffee. However, there are recurring criticisms regarding the limited savory options, quality of the baked goods and occasional chaotic service. While good value and quantity are noted, there is room for improvement in terms of fresh offerings and service efficiency.
Dining experiences at the hotel's restaurant are appreciated for the quality of fresh, homemade food with many guests praising the variety of local dishes and the friendly, helpful staff. Despite this, some find the menu outdated and the selection of dishes restricted, citing discrepancies between the hotel guest menu and the regular menu. Occasionally, the restaurant is fully booked or service is slow, but overall, the meals are considered delicious.
Guest reviews of the rooms are mixed. While some rooms have been renovated and offer practical, comfortable stays with amenities like balconies and cozy blankets, many still require comprehensive updates. Cleanliness varies significantly with issues reported such as dust, stained carpets and moldy showers. Larger rooms and comfortable bedding are highlights, but poor soundproofing and outdated decor detract from the overall experience.
Cleanliness across the hotel shows inconsistency with some rooms being very clean and others suffering from dust, cobwebs and general untidiness. Common areas and hallways often fall short of cleanliness expectations with marked needs for better maintenance and housekeeping practices.
A standout feature is the hotel staff, frequently praised for their friendliness, professionalism and attentiveness. The reception and restaurant staff receive accolades for their welcoming nature and efficient service, creating a positive atmosphere that enhances the guest experience.
While the WiFi access is noted as problematic, especially on higher floors, guests planning a stay requiring stable internet might need to consider alternative arrangements. Similarly, the gym and spa facilities need significant updates with many finding the equipment outdated and non-functional. The pool is appreciated for its design and cleanliness, but maintenance issues have affected its usability at times.
Parking options are generally sufficient with private parking available and a dedicated garage for cyclists and motorcyclists. However, some guests find the spaces narrow and challenging to navigate.
Family travelers find the hotel accommodating and comfortable with ample-sized family rooms and a relaxing atmosphere appreciated by both larger families and romantic getaways. The adaptability of the chef to cater to younger guests is a plus, though there is room for a more child-friendly menu.
Overall, Hôtel Restaurant des Lacs provides a beautiful and convenient retreat for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, though it has several areas needing improvement, particularly in room maintenance, breakfast service and cleanliness. The dedicated and friendly staff, along with its prime location, ensures a welcoming experience that many guests find memorable.
