The original castle was destroyed in the 9th century and was home to priests. In 1625, the de Messey family built the chateau to rule as lords on the area and the construction started 5 years later. Throughout the years, the family expanded it by buying more land and surrounding houses. They were the last ones to ever live on the castle. In 2011, Susanne and Jean-Louis Bottigliero took over and renovated the castle, turning it into the hotel that it is today.
This fortified medieval castle was built in the 16th century. It was renovated during the Renaissance period. In the 1980s, it was classified as a Historical Monument and it was opened to the public a decade later by its owner, Yasuhiko Sata. Today it is a renowned golf resort in a castle setting offering traditional suites with subtle modern twists. Around the hotel, guests can find expansive wine areas and winemakers.
The castle was built in 1820 but it was burnt down during the French Revolution. In 1998, the owners rebuilt it on top of the ruins while keeping its original aesthetic. Sit by the wood fire as you listen to the gentle piano or relax on the spas. Top off your stay by dining in the Michelin Star restaurant while overlooking the Italian garden illuminated at night. The hotel stands close to the Champagne and Chablis vineyards.
