Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
City Centro by Marriott Oaxaca is lauded for its prime location in the picturesque Jalatlaco neighborhood, balancing tranquility and central access to Oaxaca's historic city center. Just a 10-15 minute walk from cultural attractions and main streets, the hotel is nestled in an area filled with vibrant street art, charming cafes and restaurants. The hotel's stunning architecture and design harmonizing with local Oaxacan spirit further enhance the experience, making it a fantastic choice for exploring the city's rich heritage and culinary delights. Additionally, the ease of access to local shops and other conveniences adds to its appeal.
While breakfast at the hotel showcases good presentation and some delicious items, it has received mixed reviews due to a lack of variety, occasional quality issues and service delays. Many guests felt the offerings did not live up to the brand's premium expectations, especially when not included in the room rate.
The rooms are highly praised for their cleanliness, modern design and comfortable beds. However, they are often considered small with limited storage and insufficient amenities such as refrigerators and coffee machines. The rooftop pool area is appreciated for its views and ambiance, even if it's relatively small. Some rooms also face issues with natural lighting and air conditioning.
Cleanliness stands out as a significant positive with meticulous maintenance by the cleaning staff ensuring an immaculate environment throughout the hotel. Guests also appreciate the overall calm and quiet atmosphere, bolstered by friendly and kind staff who contribute to a restful experience.
The hotel's staff is generally described as friendly, helpful and professional with specific mentions of accommodating front-desk personnel and attentive service staff enhancing the guest experience. The transportation services and welcoming demeanor of individuals like receptionist Susana are notable highlights. However, some inconsistencies in staff behavior and professionalism were noted.
Complimentary WiFi receives mixed reviews, being sufficiently fast for some but inconsistent for others with occasional connectivity issues depending on room location.
The pool area, despite being small, is charming and offers a relaxing ambiance with a lovely bar and terrace, although there have been occasional maintenance issues. Onsite parking is a rare convenience in the historic center, but the tight and busy space can be challenging to navigate without assistance for luggage.
Overall, City Centro by Marriott Oaxaca excels with its beautiful design, prime location, cleanliness and generally friendly staff, despite some areas needing improvement to meet the high standards expected of the brand.
