Hotel de Ville in Ramsgate offers a blend of positive features, making it a favorable choice for travelers, especially those on a budget. Nestled in a convenient location, it is within close proximity to key spots such as Ramsgate’s harbor, the promenade, the railway station and the charming town center. The serene surroundings, particularly at night, provide a quiet and restful atmosphere. The convenience of nearby shops, the seafront for scenic walks and easy parking further enhance the location’s appeal. The hotel’s pub/bar downstairs adds a cozy, homely atmosphere without disturbing the peace of the rooms.
Despite the absence of an in-house breakfast, guests appreciate the proximity to nearby cafes with 'Beano's' singled out for its value and quality. The rooms, while showing signs of outdated decor and furnishings, are predominantly clean, presentable and equipped with modern bathrooms. The affordability and cleanliness of the hotel are notable highlights, even as some reviews indicate issues with noisy rooms, occasional discomfort in beds and cold temperatures at check-in.
Cleanliness receives mixed reviews; many guests commend the clean and comfy rooms and bathrooms, whereas some note areas requiring better housekeeping. The staff at Hotel de Ville consistently earn high praise for their friendliness, helpfulness and warm, welcoming demeanor. Their exemplary service and the homely atmosphere they create significantly contribute to a pleasant stay.
One notable drawback is the lack of reliable Wi-Fi throughout the premises with the connection only available in the bar area and often reported as weak. Despite this, the overall positive experience with the staff, location and value often outweigh this inconvenience for many visitors.
In summary, Hotel de Ville stands out for its excellent location, friendly staff, cleanliness and value for money, making it a compelling option for those seeking a budget-friendly, comfortable stay in Ramsgate. Improvements in Wi-Fi and bedding arrangements could further enhance the guest experience.
