The history of this hotel dates as far back as the 17th century, when a farmhouse was initially built on the grounds where the hotel stands today. This farmhouse was constructed in 1650 and some of its rooms remain part of the hotel until this day. In 1865, the farmhouse was rebuilt into a manor house, in a blend of Georgian and Victorian stylistic elements, some of which are still apparent today. Having changed various owners through the centuries, the hotel was finally turned into a hotel in 1972.
