Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
The Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina is celebrated for its prime location, perfectly situated on the wharf and the ocean, providing guests with stunning views of the harbor and marina. The hotel's proximity to downtown Newport makes it easy for guests to access shops, restaurants, sail excursions and various attractions, all within walking distance. This convenience is further enhanced by ample, secure and free parking included in the room price, which is highly valued by visitors.
Guests frequently commend the staff for their friendly, accommodating and exceptional service. Positive interactions with staff members, such as receptionists and bartenders, significantly contribute to a pleasant overall experience. Particular praise is often directed at individuals, enhancing the hotel's reputation for customer service.
The cleanliness of the rooms is generally appreciated with many guests finding them clean, comfortable and well-stocked. However, shortcomings in room maintenance and outdated interiors were noted by some, suggesting a need for refurbishment. The comfort of the beds also received mixed reviews; while many guests found them comfortable, some highlighted issues with bed size and old mattresses.
Guests have varied opinions about the hotel's dining options. Breakfast, when available, is described as delicious and satisfying, though some found it expensive and lacking in inclusiveness within the room price. Dinner at the on-site Saltwater restaurant often fell short of expectations, leading many guests to recommend nearby seafood restaurants for a more enjoyable dining experience.
The indoor saltwater pool is an appreciated amenity, particularly by families, though its upkeep and temperature regulation could be improved. Inconsistent cleanliness and the occasional unavailability due to repairs were mentioned as areas needing attention.
Overall, while The Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina excels with its unbeatable location and friendly staff, it is perceived as offering three-star amenities at a higher cost. Guests are drawn primarily by its central positioning rather than the quality of its facilities, which are seen as dated and in need of updates.
