Giethoorn Old Art Hotel enjoys substantial acclaim from guests, primarily for its stellar location in the heart of Giethoorn, right by the scenic canals. This central positioning allows for easy exploration of the picturesque village and access to essential amenities such as supermarkets, restaurants and tourist attractions. The hotel's proximity to the bus stop and availability of both public and private parking further enhance its convenience for visitors, making it an excellent base for a relaxing yet adventurous getaway.
The breakfast offerings at Giethoorn Old Art Hotel are highly regarded with many guests praising the delicious variety and freshness of the food. The breakfast buffet, described as abundant and rich, features crispy bread, good coffee, cold cuts, eggs, bacon and fresh fruits, all served in a clean and pleasant dining area. Though some noted the breakfast could occasionally be basic with limited options or delayed replenishments, the overall experience is still deemed highly satisfying.
Giethoorn Old Art Hotel's restaurant is celebrated for its delectable dinner options, particularly the spare ribs, which many guests claim are among the best in Holland. Positive remarks about the quality of the food and service are commonplace. However, guests often find the restaurant closed due to seasonal or operational hours, which can be frustrating for those expecting on-site dining. When open, the dining experience is commendable with excellent service and delicious meals.
The rooms at the hotel are generally clean, comfortable and modern with some featuring terraces or balconies that provide beautiful canal views. Many guests find the beds comfortable and rooms well-maintained, though some feel the accommodations are small and better suited for short stays. Issues like poor sound insulation and occasional ventilation problems were noted, but the overall ambiance is cozy and functional.
Cleanliness throughout the hotel is consistently praised with efficient cleaning staff and daily fresh towel service. Despite a few occasional lapses in room readiness and minor cleanliness issues, the general standard is high, contributing to a pleasant stay.
The hotel staff is often highlighted for their friendliness and helpfulness, especially the breakfast and restaurant teams. While efficient and professional, the self-check-in system is viewed as impersonal by some, particularly older guests who prefer face-to-face interactions.
Free Wi-Fi is available and functional, although some guests experienced inconsistent connectivity and slow speeds. The hotel also offers added conveniences like free parking and a spacious terrace.
For families, the hotel presents a mixed yet overall positive experience. While family rooms are well-arranged and the environment is deemed family-friendly, some rooms feel cramped with limited amenities such as baby cots. Nevertheless, the hotel serves as a cozy family destination for a weekend in Giethoorn.
Conclusively, Giethoorn Old Art Hotel provides a practical, comfortable stay with its clean rooms and excellent location. It offers good value for money, making it ideal for short visits, especially for those not seeking luxurious accommodations but a pleasant, accessible retreat in a beautiful village setting.
