Albergue Bergando offers a scenic and rustic experience nestled on a beautiful, large farm complete with diverse animals, from alpacas to pigs. The property, situated about a couple of kilometers from Negreira and 1 km from town, features a charming, exotic setting that many guests find enchanting as a stopover.
Accessibility is notably hit and miss. On the positive side, the farm's paths are mostly easy to navigate with ramps and extra steps thoughtfully included. Dorm rooms and specific bathrooms are designed to accommodate those with disabilities, ensuring comfort for guests with mobility issues. The hostel deviates only 800 meters from the Santiago path, making it a convenient rest spot for pilgrims. However, challenges exist. The property is best accessed by car due to a steep climb and a poorly lit route that may pose difficulties, especially at night. Some guests have highlighted maintenance issues like broken handles and spiderwebs, providing a contrasting view on the overall upkeep.
Accessing basic amenities can also be troublesome with bathrooms located about 200 meters from the rooms and only one bathroom available for over 20 beds. Guests have occasionally needed to request essential items from reception, adding to the logistical challenges. Additionally, the farm setup means that early departures can be complicated, potentially disrupting travel plans.
In sum, Albergue Bergando offers a picturesque and unique lodging experience but poses several accessibility challenges that should be carefully considered.
