The Best Western Plus Milwaukee West is a great budget-friendly option for travelers looking for a comfortable stay. Despite some small rooms and uneven floors, the hotel offers modern updates to its older facilities. Guests note that sound can travel through walls and floors, but the price is good for what you get. The rooms themselves are of good quality, even rivalling more expensive hotels. While the common areas are in need of some finishing touches, the hotel is a simple chain hotel that is great for a quick stay after catching a Brewers game.

Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Hampton Inn & Suites - Milwaukee Downtown, situated in the heart of downtown, offers a prime location that consistently draws praise from guests, providing easy access to popular attractions like the Riverside Theater, the Bradley Symphony Center and a variety of bars, restaurants and shopping venues. The proximity to major city events and convenient settings make it an ideal base for exploring Milwaukee.
The breakfast experience receives both positive and negative feedback. Many guests enjoy the variety and quality of offerings when available, noting tasty options such as eggs, bacon, bagels and waffles. Friendly staff in the breakfast area also earn commendations. However, some guests face issues with the breakfast service, such as food running out early, limited selections and occasional unavailability due to COVID-19 precautions. The inconsistencies have left some visitors dissatisfied.
Room experiences are varied. Some guests appreciate the spacious, well-equipped rooms with comfortable beds catering to needs by offering multiple beds, including sofa beds. Yet, issues with cleanliness and maintenance are common with complaints about dirty carpets, stained sheets, unclean bathrooms and faulty air conditioning. Some guests have noted missing amenities like refrigerators and microwaves. Despite these issues, the hotel's central location and satisfactory breakfast somewhat balanced the stay for some.
Cleanliness is a significant concern with mixed reviews. Positive mentions include clean accommodations and comfortable beds, but numerous complaints highlight dirty and smelly rooms, stained linens and carpets and unclean bathrooms. Trash left in rooms, old food remnants and unpleasant odors are recurring issues. The property's overall state of disrepair is apparent with mentions of non-functional amenities and rooms not being ready at check-in.
The hotel staff, while receiving mixed reviews, lean slightly towards the positive. Many guests commend friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff, especially at the front desk. Valet drivers and certain front desk employees are praised for going the extra mile. However, some guests encounter rude or unhelpful staff, leading to a more mixed overall sentiment.
The WiFi service at the hotel is another major drawback with many guests reporting poor connectivity or no internet access at all during their stays. The issue seems pervasive, affecting the overall guest experience negatively.
Parking experiences vary. Many find the parking convenient and valet service efficient. However, there are complaints about the lack of free parking and additional charges, sometimes up to $15 per night, which guests find excessive. Logistical challenges like broken elevators in the parking structure also add to the dissatisfaction.
Bed comfort receives mixed feedback. Some guests find the beds very comfortable, while others complain about uncomfortable mattresses, lumpy pillows and cleanliness issues, such as stained bedding.
Overall, Hampton Inn & Suites - Milwaukee Downtown offers a convenient location for exploring the city, but it struggles with consistency in cleanliness, maintenance and service quality. While there are positive aspects such as friendly staff and comfortable beds, significant drawbacks like WiFi issues and additional parking costs detract from the overall experience.
