Hotel De La Matelote has garnered mixed feedback regarding its four-star rating, facilities and services. On a positive note, guests have praised the very good breakfast, as well as the clean and spacious rooms. Additionally, the heated pool has been highlighted as a favorable feature.
However, numerous reviews suggest that the hotel falls short of the expectations commonly associated with a four-star rating. Several guests were disappointed by the outdated condition of the bathroom and certain fixtures, indicating that they do not reflect a four-star standard. Some found the quality and variety of the breakfast to be inadequate considering its price.
There have also been criticisms regarding the overall maintenance and cleanliness of the facilities with some reviewers describing the hotel as old and the swimming pool area as unworthy of its purported four-star rating. The purported proximity to the old city center was also mentioned as deceptive.
