Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
The Swan @Old Stratford is frequently praised for its balanced blend of convenience and charm, making it an excellent choice for various travel purposes. Ideally situated near Stony Stratford's historic town center and with easy access to Milton Keynes and major travel routes like the A5, the location is suitable for both leisure and work-related visits, including trips to local attractions like Silverstone.
Guests consistently commend the breakfast at The Swan, particularly for its quality, freshness and reasonable pricing, available on weekends. Although some guests noted the lack of weekday breakfast and vegetarian options, the overall sentiment remains positive. Similarly, dinner offerings receive favorable reviews for their well-prepared, pub-style meals served at reasonable prices despite a limited menu.
The rooms are another strong point, admired for their cleanliness, comfort and modern decor. Even the smaller rooms are functional and well-equipped with thoughtful amenities like ample tea and coffee facilities. Family rooms can efficiently accommodate up to three adults and private room entrances add to the convenience.
Of special note is the consistently high standard of cleanliness with rooms and en suite bathrooms described as spotless, bright and airy. The comfortable beds, despite some criticism over mattress quality and occasional issues with bedding, contribute to a restful stay for many.
The staff at The Swan stand out for their warmth and helpfulness, creating a friendly, family-run atmosphere that enhances the guest experience. This high level of service is felt across numerous reviews with guests repeatedly mentioning the accommodating and responsive nature of the team.
However, the hotel does face some challenges with Wi-Fi connectivity, particularly in the rooms where the signal can be slow or patchy. While a Wi-Fi code is provided and works well in the pub area, room connectivity can be unreliable.
Parking facilities also come with mixed reviews. While free and convenient onsite parking is a plus, the limited and often crowded space, especially during the evening rush, can pose a challenge.
Overall, The Swan @Old Stratford earns high marks for its excellent location, quality breakfast and dinner, clean and comfortable rooms and exceptional staff, making it a solid choice for travelers seeking both convenience and a welcoming environment.
