Chiang Dao Hostel offers a delightful retreat for travelers seeking peace and serenity, nestled in a charming location away from urban chaos but conveniently close to key amenities. Situated near a river, the hostel's garden setting, complete with balconies, hammocks, and picturesque views of Doi Luang, contributes to its tranquil atmosphere. Guests appreciate the hostel's strategic proximity to local markets and Tuesday morning events, along with ample parking facilities, making exploration easy while still providing a sense of escape.
Breakfast at the hostel, although basic, offers variety with options like fresh fruit and toast, creating a pleasant start to the day in a communal setting. Guests particularly enjoy the warm and social environment fostered during breakfast, with the option to order eggs for a more filling meal.
The rooms are spacious and generally praised for their cleanliness and comfort, featuring private terraces that overlook serene streams. While some areas might appear slightly worn and minor cleanliness issues like ants and shower facilities needing upgrades were noted, the hostel provides good value for money with quiet surroundings and satisfactory amenities. The attentive staff enhance the overall experience, with many guests commending the friendly and accommodating nature of the team, including Nuk, Kat, and Sister Nat. Language barriers are occasionally mentioned, yet the staff's efficiency and helpfulness, especially regarding local tours and transportation, are well-received.
Sleeping arrangements are met with mixed reviews; the comfortable bedding and pillows are appreciated, along with the dormitory-style layout that eschews bunk beds for individual sleeping spaces. However, inconsistencies in mattress firmness and lightweight partition walls detract slightly from the experience. Overall, Chiang Dao Hostel impresses guests with its outstanding service, beautiful location, and tranquil ambiance, making it a favored destination for those seeking relaxation and charm.
