Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
The Upper Largo Hotel & Restaurant is highly esteemed for providing an exceptional experience across various aspects, making it an ideal destination for travelers exploring the Fife coastal area. Its prime location offers easy access to popular attractions such as the Fife Coastal Path, Lower Largo beach, Lundin Links and St Andrews, making it a convenient base for outdoor enthusiasts and golfers. The scenic setting on a hill overlooking the sea adds to its charm, providing beautiful views, plenty of parking space and a quiet neighborhood atmosphere. Additionally, the nearby bus stop facilitates easy exploration of the surrounding villages and attractions.
A significant highlight is the consistently praised breakfast, which is described as excellent, fantastic and amazing. Guests appreciate the freshly cooked meals, the variety of options including vegetarian choices and the use of fresh local produce. The dining experience continues to impress with dinners that are celebrated for their quality, varied menu and value for money. The restaurant's quick and efficient service, along with standout dishes like locally sourced prawn tails and 'posh' mac n cheese, adds to the overall positive dining experience.
Accommodations at the hotel are noted for their cleanliness and comfort. Rooms are often described as spotless, cozy and well-presented, despite their smaller size. The newly refurbished decor enhances the welcoming feel and amenities such as tea and coffee making facilities are appreciated. Special mentions are given to larger family apartments for their spaciousness. The hotel's cleanliness standards extend throughout the property, ensuring a hygienic and pleasant stay.
Guests consistently commend the staff for their friendliness, helpfulness and exceptional service. The warm and professional interactions, coupled with the accommodating nature of the staff, significantly enhance the overall guest experience. Particular praise is directed at the owner for their friendliness and the staff's proactive approach, such as assisting with dinner reservations.
While the free WiFi coverage is excellent in the main bar area, it is limited in the bedrooms due to the historic building's thick walls. Parking facilities are convenient and ample with the majority of reviews noting the ease and abundance of parking spaces available.
The hotel is recognized as family-friendly, offering a welcoming atmosphere for families and groups. The comfort of the family rooms and apartments, along with the staff's exceptional hospitality, makes the hotel an excellent base for family gatherings and celebrations. The Upper Largo Hotel & Restaurant is also a preferred choice for dog owners. Its genuine dog-friendly environment, friendly staff and inclusive experience for both pets and their owners are frequently highlighted.
Overall, The Upper Largo Hotel & Restaurant stands out for its friendly service, cleanliness, excellent dining options and accommodating atmosphere, making it a highly recommended choice for a memorable stay.
