Cockhaven Arms provides a delightful and serene escape in a picturesque part of Devon, attracting travelers with its excellent location, superb dining, modern amenities and exceptional service. Nestled in a quiet village, the hotel offers wonderful estuary views and lush surroundings, serving as an ideal base for exploring local attractions, from nearby beaches and the Riviera Coast to Dartmoor. The property’s tranquil ambiance makes it favored for family trips, weddings and short retreats, offering ample parking and easy access to amenities and transportation.
Guests consistently praise the outstanding breakfast offerings for their quality, variety and fresh local produce. The scrambled eggs with salmon and the full English breakfast are standout choices, served promptly in a friendly and efficient manner. The superb quality extends to dinner as well, featuring top-notch dishes like mussels and steak pie, complemented by a good selection of real ales and wines. The intimate, family-run atmosphere enhances the dining experience, despite smaller portions and limited vegetarian options.
The rooms at Cockhaven Arms are highly regarded for their spaciousness, cleanliness and stylish decor. Many highlight the luxurious bathrooms, super-comfortable mattresses and superior rooms with private balconies offering terrific views. Minor issues such as occasional mold in bathroom tiles or slightly cold rooms on arrival do not overshadow the overwhelmingly positive feedback. The hotel’s dog-friendly policies and luxurious suites, including a Bridal Suite, cater to a wide range of travelers.
Exceptional cleanliness is a consistent theme with rooms and common areas being described as spotlessly clean and well-maintained. This ensures a comfortable stay, reinforced by the hotel’s adherence to Covid safety protocols. The friendly and helpful staff receive high accolades for their warm and attentive service, contributing significantly to memorable stays.
The reliable and accessible free WiFi meets guest expectations, although it may be limited for streaming. Comfortable beds, notably the king-sized ones, ensure restful nights, adding to the overall positive experience. As a four-star establishment, Cockhaven Arms impresses with modern and luxurious decor, high-quality amenities and a well-maintained ambiance that offers a touch of grandeur.
Pet owners particularly appreciate the hotel’s extremely dog-friendly policies with dogs welcomed in bar and restaurant areas and a resident dog adding to the warm environment. The clean, dog-designated areas and attentive service make the experience thoroughly positive for both guests and their furry companions.
In summary, Cockhaven Arms offers a memorable stay with its serene location, excellent food, modern and clean facilities and remarkable hospitality, making it a highly recommended destination in Devon.
