Caribe Princess, situated in a prime location in Chetumal, is highly lauded for its proximity to key amenities and attractions, such as the boardwalk, city center, Malecon, public transportation options and a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants. Its accessibility is especially beneficial for travelers looking to explore the city and enjoy the local food scene. The hotel's central position provides a peaceful atmosphere while remaining close to urban conveniences.
While the hotel doesn’t offer in-house breakfast, guests have access to excellent breakfast options at nearby restaurants and cafes. The rooms at Caribe Princess receive mixed reviews. Many guests appreciate the comfort, spaciousness, cleanliness and quietness of the rooms with amenities like air conditioning and TV. However, the rooms are often described as outdated with old furnishings and bathroom accessories and there are significant concerns about cleanliness, maintenance and the lack of storage options.
Cleanliness is another area with varied feedback. While many guests highlight the cleanliness and the professionalism of the cleaning staff — who maintain the rooms diligently — other reviews point out lapses such as dirty floors, moldy smells and neglected bathrooms. There seems to be inconsistency in cleanliness standards across different stays.
The hotel's staff generally receive positive reviews for their friendliness, attentiveness and helpful attitudes with special mentions for the cleaning and security staff. Nevertheless, some guests experienced rude or inattentive behavior from certain reception staff, primarily due to language barriers and distractions.
WiFi connectivity at Caribe Princess is a significant concern, as many guests report unreliable internet access, particularly within their rooms. The WiFi signal is often weak, spotty or non-existent, hindering guests' ability to stay connected.
Parking at Caribe Princess is a welcome feature with private and free parking available. However, the parking space is limited and often full and there is a lack of designated spaces for people with disabilities.
The quality of beds and bedding at the hotel is another area needing attention. Many guests found the mattresses too hard and uncomfortable, pillows insufficient and bed linens often old or stained.
Caribe Princess is positioned as a classic three-star hotel, suitable for short stays rather than extended visits. Despite its signs of aging and the need for upgrades, the hotel's central location and friendly staff make it a practical and affordable choice for both leisure and business travelers. The hotel's functionality and affordability cater to business travelers, although there are areas for improvement in service provision for professionals. Overall, Caribe Princess’s central location and amiable staff contribute positively to the guest experience, making it a fair option for short-term stays in Chetumal.
