Guests find it ideal for both leisure, personal visits and exploring the north-east with proximity to attractions like Kynren and Hamsterley Forest.
Breakfast at the hotel receives high praise for its variety, quality and presentation. Highlights include the full English breakfast, mushroom omelettes, freshly made coffee and breakfast kippers. While a few minor issues were noted, such as the breakfast window and specific items, the overall consensus underscores the meals as a memorable part of the stay, enhanced by the friendly and attentive staff.
Dinner offerings are equally well-regarded, praised for both flavor and generous portion sizes. Guests enjoy a wide range of dishes, from fried brie to a classic Sunday carvery. Although not every dish was perfect, the comprehensive menu, coupled with excellent value, makes dining a noteworthy experience at the hotel.
Rooms at The Fir Tree Country Hotel are described as clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Despite some being on the smaller side, they provide functionality and comfort with amenities like mini-fridges and easy-to-use showers. Guests appreciate the modern, cozy décor and especially commend the comfortable beds. The motel-style private entrances are a bonus for dog owners.
