Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Holiday Inn Guildford by IHG, receives strong praise for its convenient location, especially for visitors to the University of Surrey, Royal Surrey Hospital and nearby business parks. The serene environment with its green surroundings provides a peaceful retreat while still being close to essential amenities like a large Tesco supermarket and the town center. Accessibility via major highways and public transport, along with free parking, further enhances the convenience for guests.
The breakfast at the hotel stands out with a variety of hot and cold options, making it a delight for many guests. Fresh fruit, pancakes and traditional English fare are highlights and the breakfast buffet’s comprehensiveness, coupled with the friendly and efficient staff, ensure a positive start to the day. The dinner experience also earns praise for its diverse and high-quality menu catering to different dietary needs with standout dishes including nachos, pizza, fish and chips and mushroom risotto. Attentive and friendly staff elevate the dining experience even further.
Rooms at the hotel receive mixed reviews. Many guests appreciate the comfort and spaciousness with clean and well-equipped amenities such as large TVs and comfortable beds contributing to a satisfactory stay. However, the dated decor and need for refurbishment are recurring themes. Issues like tired furnishings and outdated bathrooms detract from the overall experience.
Cleanliness at the hotel garners both praise and critique. While some areas are spotless and well-maintained, others, particularly the bathrooms and certain common areas, suffer from cleanliness issues like mould and worn-out carpets. The cleaning staff is generally seen as polite and efficient, though consistency in cleaning routines could be improved.
Staff members are highlighted as a significant positive aspect, frequently described as friendly, helpful and efficient. Their professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond leave a lasting positive impression on many guests.
The hotel’s Wi-Fi service is appreciated for being free, though guests report mixed experiences regarding its consistency and reliability. The availability of a paid option suggests a need for better connectivity for guests requiring stronger internet service.
Fitness enthusiasts find the gym to be adequate and well-equipped, despite some guests noting its limited size and room for updates. The pool area also receives positive feedback for its cleanliness and enjoyable atmosphere, although occasional critiques regarding its condition and crowdedness indicate a need for minor improvements.
Parking is convenient with ample space and free parking frequently mentioned as a notable advantage. However, recent introductions of parking fees have caused some dissatisfaction among guests accustomed to complimentary parking.
For families, the hotel offers spacious family rooms, an indoor pool and family-friendly packages like children-eat-free options, making it an excellent choice for those traveling with children. The welcoming atmosphere and tailored amenities enhance the overall family experience.
In conclusion, Holiday Inn Guildford by IHG, offers a generally positive experience with commendable amenities, friendly staff and a prime location. While there are areas for improvement, particularly in room refurbishment and cleaning consistency, the hotel largely meets the diverse needs of its guests, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
