Hotel de Markt in the heart of Valkenswaard is often praised for its superb location, nestled in the bustling market square and surrounded by a plethora of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. This central position makes it highly convenient for guests to immerse themselves in local life, enjoy cozy terraces and explore the area's excellent dining options. Its proximity to key attractions and amenities, coupled with an easy commute to Eindhoven Airport, adds to its appeal as a delightful base for both leisure and transit travelers. Guests appreciate the beautiful surroundings and vibrant atmosphere, which significantly enhance their stay.
While breakfast experiences at Hotel de Markt have been mixed, there are highlights of tasty and welcoming meals at the adjacent Guinnizz bar. Some guests found the breakfast sufficient and enjoyable, describing it as organized and delicious with a personal touch from the kitchen. However, inconsistencies in availability, particularly on weekdays due to staffing issues, were noted. This led to some guests seeking alternatives at nearby cafes and bakeries. It's advisable for potential visitors to be aware of this inconsistency.
The rooms at Hotel de Markt receive a mix of reviews. A major positive is the consistent praise for their cleanliness with guests noting spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodations. The hotel’s central location and reasonable pricing further add to its attractiveness with clean linens, comfy beds and decent WiFi frequently mentioned. Downsides include the rooms’ small size, noise from the surroundings and minor maintenance issues. Although some rooms need updates and better amenities, those prioritizing cleanliness and location over luxury may still find it an appealing option.
Cleanliness standards at the hotel are generally commendable with numerous guests highlighting clean rooms with quality bedding and towels. However, there were recurrent complaints about dust, dirty floors and poorly maintained areas such as balconies and terraces. Inconsistencies in cleanliness, including unclean bathrooms and dusty fixtures, indicate room for improvement. Though many find their accommodations clean and comfortable, maintaining a more consistent standard is necessary.
Guests frequently commend the hotel’s staff for their friendliness and helpfulness, contributing significantly to a positive atmosphere. While some experienced minor issues with staff accessibility concerning key return and invoice processing, the overall sentiment remains positive. The team's polite and accommodating nature is widely appreciated, ensuring a welcoming experience for most visitors.
Reviews about the beds at Hotel de Markt are mixed but lean towards positive with many guests finding them comfortable and clean. Praise for good value, alongside reliable WiFi, is common. However, some inconsistencies in bed quality, such as old or broken bedding, creaky mattresses and placement issues, are noted. Despite these occasional concerns, many guests feel the beds are generally adequate for a good night's sleep.
In conclusion, Hotel de Markt offers a charming and convenient stay for visitors to Valkenswaard with its prime location and friendly staff being standout features. While there are areas for improvement, particularly regarding breakfast availability and consistency in room cleanliness and amenities, the hotel remains a popular choice for those looking to explore the vibrant local life of Valkenswaard.
