The Heritage Inn La Mesa offers a blend of convenient location and mixed guest experiences, accentuated by several positive highlights. The hotel's strategic position near the freeway provides easy access to San Diego and a variety of local attractions, shopping centers and dining options. The close proximity to SDSU and the presence of nearby trolley stations add to its appeal for many travelers.
The rooms at Heritage Inn La Mesa receive mixed feedback. While some guests praised the comfort and cleanliness of their beds and bathrooms, others noted significant issues such as outdated furnishings and cleanliness concerns, including instances of bugs and musty odors. The cleaning staff, however, garnered occasional praise for their efforts. Accessibility features such as wheelchair-friendly facilities and handicap rooms indicate the hotel attempts to cater to guests with disabilities, though there are areas for improvement.
Staff interactions at the hotel also reveal a spectrum of experiences. Many guests commend the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, highlighting standout employees like Rita but some reported instances of unprofessional behavior and poor customer service. The maintenance of the pool area generally received positive remarks for its cleanliness and pleasant surroundings, despite occasional upkeep issues.
Guests consistently reported disappointment with the advertised breakfast, which was largely non-existent apart from coffee and WiFi connectivity was found lacking, especially in the rooms. The state of the pool garnered positive feedback for its maintenance and refreshing aspect, although some noted periods of poor upkeep and accessibility issues.
In summary, Heritage Inn La Mesa stands out for its prime location and commendable staff service but would benefit from addressing room and amenity maintenance to elevate the overall guest experience.
