The Holiday Inn Express Bilbao Airport by IHG, is highly praised for its strategic location close to Bilbao Airport, making it convenient for those needing to catch early or late flights. The complementary shuttle service to and from the airport enhances its appeal. Despite its proximity to the airport, the hotel offers a tranquil environment, ensuring a restful stay. The access to car rental services and ample free parking further boost its practicality for travelers.
Breakfast is another standout feature, starting early at 5 am to accommodate travelers. The plentiful and fresh continental buffet receives positive feedback, although some guests desire more variety including hot items like bacon or eggs. For those with early departures, the provision of breakfast bags to go is appreciated.
The dining options have mixed reviews with some guests enjoying the convenience and taste of meals at the in-house restaurant, while others are critical of high prices and limited menu options. Service during dinner can be slow and disorganized at times, but the complimentary welcome drinks or coffee/tea receive praise.
Room cleanliness, comfort and modernity are consistently highlighted with many noting the spacious and well-equipped nature of the rooms. However, some guests find the rooms small and report issues with noise and temperature control. The hotel's housekeeping receives commendation for maintaining high cleanliness standards despite some dated decor and minor wear and tear.
The staff is frequently praised for their friendly, welcoming and professional demeanor, particularly at the reception. While some guests experienced poor communication or inattentiveness, the majority found the staff helpful and courteous.
The free Wi-Fi receives mixed reviews; while many appreciate its availability and decent connection, others encounter weak signals and connectivity issues in certain areas. Guests also note the absence of streaming capabilities on the in-room TVs.
The hotel excels in providing convenient and secure parking with many guests highlighting the ample free spaces and ease of access. The parking facilities contribute significantly to the hotel's appeal, especially for those leaving their vehicles for extended periods.
Families find the hotel accommodating with family rooms, baby cots, high chairs and a play area, though room size can be a concern for larger groups. The free airport shuttle adds to the convenience for families traveling with children.
Bed comfort is a mixed bag with many guests appreciating the quality and cleanliness of the main beds, but some find them too firm or outdated. The sofa beds, often used for children, also receive criticism for being uncomfortable.
Overall, the Holiday Inn Express Bilbao Airport, while not luxurious, offers a reliable and cost-effective option for travelers, particularly those in transit. Its cleanliness, location and the convenience of services such as the shuttle and parking make it a well-rounded choice for short stays near Bilbao Airport.
