The Belmar Inn receives praise for its outstanding location, positioned just a short walk from the beach and conveniently near shops and bars in a beautiful town with a welcoming community. Guests consistently highlight the excellent seaside views and refreshing sea breezes from the hotel rooms, making it a prime choice for beach enthusiasts.
The inn offers a light breakfast option with free hot coffee, which guests highly appreciate. On weekends, a variety of fresh donuts and bagels from Dunkin delight those staying at the hotel, providing a satisfying start to the day despite the absence of a full breakfast service.
Guests describe the rooms as clean and budget-friendly, providing essential features for a comfortable stay. Though the rooms are somewhat small with occasional issues in bathroom amenities, the cleanliness is a crucial aspect positively noted by visitors. The pricing is deemed reasonable, especially given the proximity to the beach, attracting budget-conscious travelers.
Praise for the staff is evident, as they are generally regarded as friendly, helpful, and efficient, contributing to a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The front desk staff, including standout individuals, are often commended for their exceptional service, although there are occasional comments suggesting a need for improvement in attentiveness and friendliness.
While reviews for the beds are mixed, some guests find them comfortable, mentioning nice and cushy mattresses. However, there are frequent concerns about sagging mattresses, flat pillows, and stained sheets, indicating a need for enhancements in bedding quality.
Overall, The Belmar Inn stands out for its superb location, commendable cleanliness, and friendly staff, appealing predominantly to beachgoers and budget travelers seeking a convenient seaside experience.

The Mayfair Hotel stands out for its exceptional location, consistently positioned as an ideal destination for beachgoers. Situated directly across from the beach, it offers unparalleled oceanfront views and is conveniently close to a variety of restaurants, shops and the boardwalk. This charming historic hotel, known for its well-kept and picturesque surroundings, provides a delightful blend of convenience, charm and spectacular vistas, making it perfect for both short and extended stays.
Despite lacking an in-house breakfast service, the hotel somewhat compensates with a sunroom coffee service that has received positive mentions. Guests seeking morning meals will need to explore nearby eateries. However, this shortfall is minor compared to the overall guest experience.
Rooms at the Mayfair Hotel are lauded for their cleanliness, bright and cheerful ambiance and modern amenities. Although the rooms are small, they feature quirky retro decor and comfortable beds that contribute to a spa-like atmosphere. Recently renovated spaces enhance the hotel's vintage charm with consistently high marks for cleanliness and comfort, even though storage space and full-length mirrors are limited.
The staff at the Mayfair Hotel is frequently praised for their friendliness and exceptional service. Guests highlight the accommodating and helpful nature of the team with specific staff members receiving commendations for their outstanding hospitality. The dedication of the staff significantly enhances the pleasant and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel.
While the complimentary WiFi is a valued amenity, it often suffers from reliability and strength issues, prompting some guests to recommend an upgrade for better satisfaction. Nonetheless, the free WiFi is appreciated alongside other conveniences like the availability of a hairdryer upon request.
An outdoor pool, which is well-maintained and clean, adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the guest experience, particularly during the summer. However, there are occasional access issues with the pool being closed or unavailable outside of peak season and some criticism about its early closing time. Despite this, when operational, the pool is a cherished feature for relaxation.
The bedding quality at the Mayfair Hotel receives mixed reviews. While many guests find the beds very comfortable, some have expressed dissatisfaction with the mattresses being too hard, thin or worn out. This inconsistency suggests that while some rooms provide a cozy night's rest, others might not meet guests' expectations.
In conclusion, the Mayfair Hotel excels in location, cleanliness, room charm and staff friendliness, providing great value and a memorable seaside getaway despite minor areas needing improvement.
