Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Hookwood Lodge, situated near Gatwick Airport, garners widespread acclaim for its prime location and quiet, picturesque surroundings. Guests find the lodge easily accessible and appreciate the serene retreat it offers despite being close to the airport. The beautiful grounds, characterized by lush greenery and well-maintained gardens, add to the appeal, creating a peaceful and picturesque setting. The nearby amenities, including shops, pubs, restaurants and a convenient Tesco supermarket, further enhance its attractiveness.
The lodge’s rooms receive consistent praise for their cleanliness, spaciousness and comfort. Many guests highlight the cozy and vintage charm of the rooms, while also appreciating modern conveniences like free Wi-Fi, USB plugs and coffee and tea-making facilities. The beds, noted for their exceptional comfort and quality bedding, contribute to a restful night's sleep. Although some minor issues such as outdated furniture and occasional unpleasant odors were mentioned, these did not significantly detract from the overall positive experience.
Dining options, although not available on-site, are conveniently located nearby. The Black Horse Pub, praised for its excellent meals and friendly ambiance, stands out as a favorite. Additional dining options, including other pubs and a Tesco café, provide ample variety for guests. While the absence of breakfast at the lodge is a common point of critique, the nearby Tesco café offers a suitable alternative for morning meals.
The high standards of cleanliness extend beyond the rooms to the entire property with guests frequently commending the spotless environment. Despite a few isolated incidents of damp bedding and unpleasant odors, Hookwood Lodge generally maintains an exceptionally clean and tidy setting.
Parking facilities at Hookwood Lodge are another highlight with ample, free and secure parking available overnight. The convenience of airport transfer and shuttle services, along with electric car charging spots, further adds to the positive lodging experience.
Although staff interaction is minimal with self-check-in being the norm, guests appreciate the efficiency and friendliness of the staff when present. The self-check-in process is generally well-received for its convenience, although some guests miss the personal touch of more frequent staff interactions.
Overall, Hookwood Lodge offers excellent value for travelers seeking a comfortable, clean and convenient stay near Gatwick Airport with beautiful surroundings and quality amenities enhancing the overall experience.
