Au Vieux Moulin, nestled in the heart of Chablis, is celebrated for its perfect and picturesque location, offering guests stunning views of the river, vineyards and historic homes. The charming and stylish hotel merges historic charm with modern comfort, featuring beautifully restored mill decor, well-maintained common areas and serene terraces for relaxation.
The breakfast at Au Vieux Moulin garners positive feedback for its quality and variety, served in a charming room with exposed beams or on a terrace overlooking the vineyards. Despite some mixed opinions on its price and self-service format, many guests find the experience delightful and satisfying. The hotel's acclaimed restaurant, Au Fil du Zinc, is a standout feature, offering exceptional meals and service, making it a highly recommended dining destination that often requires advance booking.
Guestrooms receive high praise for their spaciousness, cleanliness and comfort, featuring thoughtful amenities like toiletries, coffee machines and robes. The decor harmoniously blends modern conveniences with the historic atmosphere of the old mill and the views of the river or canal add to the idyllic experience. The hotel’s cleanliness is frequently highlighted with spotless rooms and well-kept facilities that enhance the overall guest experience.
The staff at Au Vieux Moulin, particularly Sophia and Morgane, are noted for their friendliness and professionalism, although some reviews mention limited staff presence and minimal services due to the self-check-in system. Despite these points, the staff’s accommodating nature and the smooth functioning of the self-check-in contribute positively to guests’ stays.
However, the Wi-Fi service at the hotel is a common area of criticism with many guests reporting slow or intermittent connectivity issues, impacting those who require reliable internet access. Fortunately, the hotel compensates with exceptionally comfortable beds that provide a restful night's sleep, supported by modern and spacious bedding.
Combining historical charm with modern luxury, Au Vieux Moulin in Chablis offers a tranquil and convenient retreat, making it a memorable destination for visitors seeking both a touch of history and contemporary comforts in the beautiful wine country.
