Kyriad Caen Nord - Hérouville-Saint-Clair stands out as a favorable option primarily due to its convenient and tranquil location. It is ideal for travelers arriving by ferry from the UK, being mere minutes from the Brittany Ferries terminal. The hotel’s proximity to key attractions, including the Normandy coast and D-Day beaches, enhances its appeal and the calm environment ensures a peaceful stay despite being near bustling areas.
The hotel’s breakfast offerings receive high praise for variety and quality, ensuring a hearty start to the day with both hot and cold options. While occasional feedback notes minor issues like the coffee machine's performance during rush times, the overall consensus is positive, highlighting the breakfast buffet as both extensive and satisfying.
While dining experiences receive mixed reviews, staff members like Diego, Arnaud and Laurent are commended for their professionalism and empathy. The on-site restaurant serves good quality meals during weekdays, but the closure during weekends and limited menu options leave some guests seeking alternatives nearby. Despite some detractors, the evening dining experience has been enjoyed by several guests.
The rooms generally receive positive remarks for cleanliness and comfort with spacious layouts and pet-friendly accommodations. However, they are described as sometimes small or outdated with issues like poor soundproofing and maintenance concerns noted. Although some areas are in need of modern updates, most guests find the rooms sufficient for a comfortable stay.
Cleanliness is typically highlighted as a strong point, maintaining a tidy environment throughout the guest rooms and communal areas, though occasional lapses in housekeeping are mentioned. Friendly and helpful staff further enhance the experience, earning praise for their approachable and attentive service. Specific team members have left lasting positive impressions through their exceptional customer service.
The free WiFi generally meets guests' needs despite some instances of slow connection and disruptions. The parking facilities are also praised for being ample, free and conveniently located, although the spaces could be better suited for larger vehicles. Electric vehicle charging points add an extra layer of convenience.
Families find the hotel accommodating with spacious rooms and amenities like baby cribs. However, logistical issues such as the lack of an elevator can be inconvenient for some guests. The location near a shopping center provides easy access to external dining and shopping options, contributing positively to the family-friendly atmosphere.
Beds are mostly described as comfortable with some guests reporting issues such as firm or outdated mattresses and thin pillows. Although certain aspects need improvement, the bedding generally ensures a good rest.
As a three-star establishment, some areas need enhancements to meet the expected standards, notably the rooms' size and amenities. While it serves as a budget-friendly option, potential guests should manage expectations regarding comfort and luxury typically associated with a three-star rating.
The dog-friendly atmosphere is another positive aspect with amenities and walking areas for pets, although there are restrictions in dining areas. This makes the hotel a practical choice for travelers with dogs, despite a €10 per night pet fee.
Overall, Kyriad Caen Nord - Hérouville-Saint-Clair offers a convenient, comfortable and clean stay with several highlights, making it an appealing choice for budget-conscious travelers, families and pet owners.
